The piece on Guantanamo and Abdel Khadr in this months' Rolling Stone made me sick.
Made me believe that regardless of stature, belief or culture, there's no such thing as civilisation in war.

I wish Chrisfan was here so I could ask her how she felt about our president now having the power to order the torture of any and all American citizens, much like Saddam Hussein had in Iraq. But now we'll never know, will we? Chrisfan, just email me the answer. I know you still stalk the boards. I'll post it here for discussion.

The piece on Guantanamo and Abdel Khadr in this months' Rolling Stone made me sick. Made me believe that regardless of stature, belief or culture, there's no such thing as civilisation in war. I haven't read the article you're talking about, but the whole idea of supposedly lawful torture by American forces is absolutely sickening. I'm not even sure what else to say about it other than that it completely blows my mind that this is a debatable issue, and that some people are on the side of the President on this. But I guess when you've already invaded a nation that did not attack you on several false premises, it really isn't that big of a jump.

How else would they know we're serious if we didn't torture them?

Exactly. We could drop a nitrogen bomb on them. How else would they know that we're serious?
