Did Kinky Friedman stand a legitimate chance of winning before Willie's endorsement?

Just get them out of power. It can't be any simpler than that. If that means you vote for the reanimated corpse of Attila the Hun, then that's what you do.

Honestly, Rocky, it's mostly just based in the past on the Willie remark. However, released over the weekend, there are some suprising numbers for the Kinky campaign. His support jumped up big time and from out of nowhere at that. He's only trailing Perry by about 9 percent and has close to 23 percent of the vote as the recent polls go. That's pretty big and quite frankly, I am praying for an act of god to come about and just have Perry do something incredibly stupid that gets him knocked out of the race. That would be the best thing to happen in Texas in a long time.

Come on shin, I don't need some ulterior motive to vote for the reanimated corpse of Attila the Hun. Who the fuck wouldn't vote for that shit? That would be badass.

Seriously! If only we could take some the cells of Attila the Hun preserved in amber ala Jurassic Park and it would be off the hook!

I wouldn't vote for this Harold Ford fucker. Really, what is the use? If he wins, he becomes the bipartisan darling of the Republican Party and fodder for argument about how extreme the leftists in the Democratic Party have become.
Really, apart from fillinf one seat in Congress, this guy does nothing but hurt any future Democratic agenda.

Tennessee is not Connecticut, Kenny. Pick your battles.

I'd vote for Kinky Friedman. I wish the gov of my state had written 'They Ain't Making Jews Like Jesus Anymore'.

Tennessee is not Connecticut, Kenny. Pick your battles. But to what extent does the Party suffer...ah, fuck it. Unless the guy flew a swatika every time he spoke, I'd vote for anyone in order to beat a Republican at this time.

I had recently read that Don Imus was furious at one Harold Ford, Jr. over something regarding his position on Joe Lieberman, so I did a google search and came across this: www.nrsc.org/newsdesk/document.aspx?ID=2807When Pressed By MSNBC's Don Imus Last Month, Harold Ford, Jr. Refused To Say If He Would Support Sen. Joe Lieberman (D-CT) If He Runs As An Independent In The General Election. MSNBC's Don Imus: "So, I'm going to stick with Senator Lieberman. Even if he runs as an Independent I'm gonna support him. Will you support him if he runs as an Independent?" Harold Ford, Jr.: "Well, he's gonna win that Democratic primary. . . ." . . . Imus: "Yes or no?" Ford: "I'm a Joe Lieberman fan and a Joe Lieberman supporter and we gotta wait and see what happens in the primary. But, I believe he's gonna win the primary. I'm so focused on my own race, um." Imus: "Yeah, but you can answer this, yes or no, will you support him as an Independent, yes or no?" Ford: "He's gonna win the Democratic primary. So I don't even have to get into that. I think he's gonna win the primary." Imus: "What if he doesn't?" Ford: "Then I'm gonna to talk to him after that primary. We'll find out. He's gonna win the primary." (Harold Ford, Jr., MSNBC's "Imus In The Morning," July 12, 2006)It appears that Ford considers it politically expedient to support whoever won the CT primary, which happened to be Lamont. I don't know if he's SAID so yet, but if Ford supports Lamont, then it appears he's dedicated to the party and not necessarily to these "values" that we are holding against him, which is a gazillion times more respectable than Lieberman himself, who apparently couldn't give two shits about the Dems. And if that's correct, then what I said before about his "[D]" being more important than his record is spot on: Ford will assist in a Democratic majority in any way he can. I also read that he received a 19% rating from some conservative organization. This is just another lesson in why you should, as of this moment in political history, put politics over policy/personal beliefs 100% of the time. Who fucking cares where you stand if you can't get into power to make any change?

After reading Shin's last post, I'll change my position on Ford. Given that kind of behaviour, I could vote for the guy. Hell, I live in the most Democratic city in Texas, and our Congressman (Silvestre Reyes, former Border Patrol head under Clinton) isn't nearly as liberal as I'd really like. But the most important thing is getting Dems in there who will actually oppose Dubya and his minions.

After Lamont's primary victory, Vice President Cheney said that Lamont's victory as an antiwar candidate encourages Al Qaeda.

That's harsh. Why doesn't he just shoot him in the face or something?
That will never get old, as far as I'm concerned.
