You still ate the bagel though, right? You've gotta let the bagel know who's boss.

I'm not gonna be Neville fuckin Chamberlain. From here on out I am suspicious of any and all bagels; I have evidence that they are almost certainly a threat to my Forehead Security. Thus I will ruthlessly devour any and all bagels with which I am confronted in a pre-emptive strike.
First I'll put smoked salmon on them, however.
Cheers, M

Back to the topic at hand (Bush being a flaming idiot) - if indeed these accusations simply came from blind partisans who think anyone that disagrees with them is an idiot, then why has this president in particular had his intelligence so ruthlessly questioned? This doesn't seem to happen to all conservatives - I don't remember Bush Sr. repeatedly mocked as an idiot for his lack of intelligence. And I'm pretty sure almost all the liberals on this board, at least, would acknowledge the intelligence of a good number of prominent conservatives - hell, I think some of the folks in the Bush Administration are very intelligent. Evil geniuses, perhaps, but still intelligent So if we're willing to acknowledge some conservatives are smart, then there must be some other reason why we all think Bush is an idiot. I submit it's because he's an idiot. Cheers, M

Carter was also a wimp. Ford was the clutz. Were they all true? Were they all true to the degree that they were attached? I'd say no to every one of them.

Just because every President MIGHT be hyperbolically criticized does not mean that GWB is not the greatest idiot ever.

While I don't like W or several of his policies, I would hardly call him an idiot. I think he just plays one on TV very well. I have always been of the opinion that the guy has evil genius status and plays the "country bumpkin" card when he's trying to be "real" with the people. You have to admit he has been pretty crafty to get away with some of the shit he's gotten away with.

Actually, I'll agree Bush is not a complete moron but he still might be the dumbest President we've ever had. Is it really that much better to say he's only kind of an idiot? Of course the question isn't whether or not he can read or understand simply history the question is whether he can effectively use it in running the country. It's gotta be getting harder and harder to answer that question with a yes.

Look, dude, it's like this:
Bush probably know his history you just have to remember this:
What you are confusing as blind idiocy is him pretty much just NOT CARING about history or what the world thinks. It's not that he's stupid, he would just rather do things his way and be damned the consequences. Some might call it stupid, I would just call it his faith based initiative.

He's demonstrably the worst president we've ever had and anyone who voted for him twice should be castrated.

He's not the worst, not by a longshot, there's Carter, Grant, Buchanan, Harding, Pierce and JFK standing in his way as far as I'm concerned.
