Look, soul is simply a word. Like gravity or dark energy or dark matter. It is a word that the ancient Greeks came up with to label that Unknown inside of man that caused him to be alive and be in motion. And this unknown that caused mankind is the same unknown that caused everything in the universe (and if you believe in string theory it goes back to everything that has caused branes and multiverses). So by definition this thing is the soul. Just like by definition gravity is gravity. The problem most people have with this word is that most people have been taught to think of soul in religious terms instead of scientific terms. People have ben trained to think of it in terms of heaven and hell, etc. But in fact the word soul has been co-opted by Christianity and all the other major religions, and as it was originally defined had NOTHING to do with religious doctrine or any of that other BS. It was simply a word that some Greek guys came up with, centuries before Jesus, or Buddha or Muhommid, because they simply used their gift of conscious existance and looked out into the universe and dared to wonder, "What the fuck is all of this and how the fuck does it all work?" Something that astrophysicists are still doing to this very day.
