Chrisfan locked up a perfectly reasonable and valid, CE-related board I tried to open up, in actual HONOR of her. That is my complaint.
Not that I want my complaint looked into, not at all. Just aired it out.
My CE-related board is currently at the Insect Lounge.
It is not by any stretch of the imagination intended as a means for us to go at each other's throats again. Nay, it is merely an attempt to break down the conflicts of interest I see reflected in this War in Iraq.
~Is it truly necessary, this War?
~Does it or does it not contradict basic Christian tenets that Jesus strove to teach?
The reason for me bringing it up is because
~It was just on the news, making it a "current event"
~It was specifically related to our President having made a comment that pulling out of Iraq would be "sending the wrong signal to our enemies". I read that in the paper yesterday, I believe it was.
If Chrisfan is too snooty to bother discussing this over in the Insect Lounge, you can be sure I'll bring it up quite civilly and in the proper manner on whatever board ends up being the CE board where she contributes. I actually do value Chrisfan's opinions, otherwise why would I bother to try and get feedback from her?
You probably think I'm "baiting" you, huh Chrisfan. Actually I'm sincerely trying to untangle this complicated knot of semantics our President currently has us all embroiled in. That is because I am a straightforward, honest person, with good intentions, who wishes only to learn, and not educate.

Actually, both thorn's board and the Holloway thread should be unlocked. Not saying that defensively or disrespectfully or anything...just that now that some ground rules have been laid out by Strat, I don't see why those boards shouldn't be re-opened. They'll both just die out in a couple days, anyway, as is the way of things. Hell, I've never started a thread that made it more than a few pages...

I'm not opposed to unlocking them if Chrisfan wants to. I think she was trying to get all of the actual CE discussions in one place. This was before the announcement and stickying of the thread. It's not a perfect science and we're still trying to get things sorted out, but minimizing confusion and duplication is part of the goal, I'd say. Note that they were not deleted.

Unlocking them is fine with me. Although I'll say again that I'm not sure why we need two threads (Actual CE and Thorn's war thread) discussing the same topic at the same time.

well, you could make a CE main board and sticky it, while still allowing for other threads. that way, chrisfan, you only have to look at the top one and not bother with the others while allowing the freedom for other conversations to go on unshackled by a 100 page superthread. otherwise, welcome to modern day webboarding. Great idea. This has been done. Also the Holloway and war boards have been unlocked. The Open Forum at Jac's Insect Lounge was never locked - I don't know what he was seeing. |

Why is chrisfan's opinion on how a board should be run held in higher regard than anyone else's? Why does she get to moderate a board that is high traffic? because she believes to be queen of it? It's NOT chrisfan's board, no matter how much she believes it to be. Her board is the lame one where people who can't get laid talk about tv shows and fudge. I don't mind rules, but one of the rules is to not intentionally disrupt boards, and I'm afraid that's EXACTLY what you did when you put chrisfan in "charge". You knew it was gonna upset people, but you did it anyway. It's lame, you know it's lame, so just admit it already. |

Who is "objective"? You? Shin? Pissin? Me? I'm way to the left of Chris politically, but that has nothing to do with moderating a board. I don't think Chris is going to delete posts that are left or she doesn't agree with. I don't think anyone has even given her a chance yet. I locked several threads there last night to try to get CE back on track. Chris locked a few more this morning. Some have already been unlocked. None were deleted (until I deleted a few today that were just taunts). We're [all of the moderators] trying to get things sorted out for the good of the forum.
I don't think she's going to want the duty very long either. I wish a few of you would try to walk a mile in my shoes. It's easy to throw rocks and a lot harder trying to make everybody happy.
Most people are enjoying themselves discussing music or other topics, joking around, or just shooting the breeze. That's what this forum is about.
