theres something to be said for seeing them play "what would you have me do" on new years eve. especially since they hardly ever play that anymore.
readily available local h shows is one of the only good things about living where i do..........

Racine is hot for the Local H shows, eh? I just moved to Chicago...is that pretty close to here?

Just acrosst the border...I think it's Kenosha, then Racine, then Milwaukee...and Milwaukee's about 90 miles outta town.
And Rocky, you'd better be picking up the Reader every Friday somewhere and then the Illinois Entertainer on the first of the month. Both free and they've got ALL the music info that you'll need...with the Entertainer listing all sorts of (close-in) Wisconsin clubs as well...the Rave in Milwaukee books big acts (not 'arena-big' tho) on a regular basis sometimes duplicating a Chicago gig but often weeks months later....
You gotta find that Museum gig for yourself in the Reader! The Trib and Sun-Times rarely list stuff like that.

actually racine is good because its in between chicago and milwaukee. local h is originally from zion, il-which is on the illinois-wisconsin border. they are pretty much considered a chicago band....but they play milwauke an average of about four times a year. whereas i normally go see them in milwaukee, since its only thirty miles away, if i want to, chicago is only an hour to an hour and a half away.....and ill happily make the trip.
sadly though, milwaukees proximity to chicago means that alot of bigger acts dont bother to play there-shows rarely sell out...they either play chicago or madison

and the best thing about milwaukee? one word: summerfest. largest music festival in the world.
the rave is good for booking alot of acts...but its been slipping as of late. and depending on which stage in the building is being used, the sound can be completely awful-its actually been voted one of the ten worst places to do sound in the us.

I still can't believe I didn't see them last June. It was a fan voted setlist, too. I'd have put in Creature Comforted and She Hates My Job. Disappointment.

dont worry too much...if theres one thing that local h does consistently, its tour..... the fan voted setlist thing was cool, but if you have alot of people who dont know the band all that well, the chances of getting anything played that isnt a well known popular song just arent that good. more h: www.ronnysweet.com/localh/lots of b-sides and demos here

Summerfest is one thing that I've regretted terribly that I've always missed so far...GOD you get some incredible lineups up there!
Same guys who began ChicagoFest here during Jane Byrne's mayoralty brought it up there after Harold Washington axed it as wasteful of city resources in his first term..the goofball.

Um, every Local H song is genius, popular or not. They played Cool Magnet and What Would You Have Me Do? in the show I missed, I think there were some hardcore fans there.
