;D CitizenDick -- indeed it 'tis. [ your sarcasm notwithstanding;] Although there is the one interesting aspect of Jonathan Davis's lyrics, which is essentially they are inseperable (when you get right down to it) from their marriage to the band's focused, psychotic music. KORN, of all the bands I've known, have truly exemplified the tenet of having created a true Gestalt from their interdynamics. Another good example is Pink Floyd; however, Roger Water's lyrics are so crafted that they may, indeed, stand alone and apart from the music they belong with. This in and of itself merely reflects a tighter organizational interdependance within the harmonious superstructure of Korn's music + words. To seal my declaration of Korn's superiority over Floyd when it comes to the Gestalt of their art -- one needs look no further than the fact that the legendary Pink Floyd met with their ultimate demise due to the friction between it's two primary creative egos: Gilmour & Waters couldn't see "eye to eye" in the end, which brought an otherwise exemplary band of Gestalt dynamics to its extinction. KORN, on the other hand -- is a far more organized and efficient Gestalt-Machine than the Floyd ever dreamed they could be. The reason for this is that the 5 members of KORN each allow the others an equal share in the responsibility and importance of creative input. I.E, David the drummer is no less important than Jon their lyricist & vocalist, as is Fieldy their bassist no less important than the twinned Hydra Headed guitar-beastie that is Munky + Head. One of them has an idea for a riff (more'n likely Munky or Head), which the other will feed off of and add something to, and then they'll pass it around to each and every member, allowing them full creative control to do whatever the fuck their twisted little fancies might conceive: by the time the original riff-idea has been brought full-circle through the 5 of them back to the originator of the riff, it has morphed and evolved to the point of having achieved an entirely new level of structure and impact. The thing about it is -- none of these totally down-to-earth, cool as fuck regular guys give a rat's ass about their own coveted "egos", which in my mind seperates them from the normal, petty, ego-ridden variety of the rat pack of bands out there, past and present. This is precisely what makes KORN succeed so well and resonate with an evergrowing fanbase: they work together quite well in achieving an ultimate sort of fusion for their sound. I understand that Jonathan often adds the lyrics and vocal melodies as the final "layer of icing" so to speak to the passed-around musical motif that was created by all their efforts. They treat every song they ever committed to an album as a motherfukkin HOME RUN, knocked outta the ballpark so to speak, cuz when Jonathan applies his final vocalist touch to the mix, he just fukkin rocks it like an atom bomb, throwing all of his heart and soul into it, so it's like FUUUUUUUCK!!!

"C'mon Thorn....no Berrettas, no Walthers PPKs?"
Actually Doc my friend did have the loveliest lil Berretta, but didn't offer to bring it out and shoot. Perhaps next time I'll urge him into it... He did have a veritable arsenal of assault-rifles, a beautiful designer Italian 12-gauge shotgun; A 22-calibre rifle with a Bull-Barrel for improved accuracy + a very fine scope; and this wicked assault rifle featuring an expensive night-vision scope, which apparantly has some radioactive material in it, so that if it ever breaks open, must be reported to the proper authorities immediately. That lil puppy felt so damn snug in my grip......I was salivating at the chance to fire it. Next time (hopefully)...
"I had a friend who also collected guns, having even the piece de resistance, a Thompson submachine gun....but who didn't quite respect the destructive power he could hold in one hand..."
RocDoc. . . .I am so sorry to hear about your friend, man. Yes, I was subject to a real quick reality-check lesson in the barely-contained explosive power of hanguns, just in the 1 hr we faced off that railway-plate as a target. It was quite a sobering experience to learn the various ways bullets might skip past the chamber, causing you to think you were through with the rounds, only to have 1 live one left sleeping in wait... Despite the fun I had, I'm afraid I'm more responsible than to really allow myself the luxury of going downtown & passing the background check necessary for me to get my hands on any fucking semi-automatic weapon I craved. Sure the temptation is there....but really, I am not an idiot. I would only ever proceed to that level (actual gun ownership) were I to have fully taken the requisite course for a concealed-weapons permit, plus the extensive experience of having loaded and fired and cleaned guns to the point that I felt I had "caught up" with the immense respect they so chillingly deserve.
"I very much have had a love-hate affair with guns since then...but a Berretta is sculpture! It is beauty to behold.... "
Is that the "lady's gun" - the small little thing? Or is it the "James Bond" gun -- cuz my friend had one of each. I personally thought the James Bond gun was a beautiful piece of work, and wanted to fire it desperately. (I think that was the "Walter PPK") The little snubnosed pup (with the end of the barrel right above the trigger guard) was also a sleek little beauty. I hope he lets me fire em next time.

Yeah, I've been meaning to tell you about the KornKamp thing. It's possible to still do it, however, what I realized upon trying is that since I'm automatically logged in when I enter the site where I can submit the quote, it will go to them under my name and not yours. There is no other way to do it.
Unless you want to fork over the money to join the Kamp and submit it yourself. $15 is all.

*calms down* When's the deadline, m'Lady...? For I would surely wish to do such a thing. Unless they don't pick me. Then I'll rip their little world to pieces.

'Tis rumored on the Kamp that our Boyz are doing a Pink Floyd cover on their Greatest Hits CD. Of course, it could be bullshit, and probably is.

Hmm, I'm becoming more and more convinced it's legit, now. Apparently the song is Another Brick in the Wall. Now Jonathan has said they're also covering NIN: Head Like a Hole.
