Oh, man. In Thorn's world, anyone who expresses themselves in a few sentences when they could've used multiple paragraphs just isn't trying hard.

But before I get into iSsuEs, I'd like to add that another reason I like korn, is because they are UNITERS and not DIVIDERS. This band serves as a perfect bridge between, for instance, rock & rap. White and black. Sharp & smooth. And I have always been a self-professed "bridge dweller", not unlike the troll of old who dwelt under the 3 Billy Goats Gruff bridge. I believe it was as long ago as 1988 that I made "The Bridge" my home. What bridge, you ask? Why, the proverbial, metaphysical bridge that exists as a transitory state between all living, growing things. Kinda like that Neil Peart lyric, "The point of the journey is not to arrive". I discovered long ago that change is the one thing you can more or less count on to remain stable. So I learned to roll with it, I guess. Keep movin'. I even invented a fantasy-character, "Viridian" (based on meself), who suffers a condition wherein roots perpetually grow from his feet, and if he stays put for too long, they'll grow down too far and he'll be rooted to that spot, and so he learned to keep moving, forever free and roaming the great wide world in search of the next surprising adventure. Viridian lives on/under that "bridge", if you can follow my meaning. And so do Korn. They change, adapt, shift and morph into the next mutation that comes welling up from their souls and into their eyes and out through their hands and feet. They're constantly one step ahead of the rest. Why else call their 3rd album "Follow The Leader". They singlehandedly spawned that insufferable movement known today as "numetal", yet they always remain one step ahead of it; to call korn "numetal" is to show an all-too-familiar ignorance of what is really going on. Korn is korn. People have tried to come up with a moniker or tag that describes what type of music they make: clearly it is not metal; clearly it is not rock nor, if you stop and think about it, any other genre that may spring to mind. After a long time of torturous consideration (even the bandmembers themselves tried to come up with a few clumsy labels, "heavy hop" was Fieldy's suggestion once, another one was "hard hop", these labels were atrocious) the only label that makes any sense whatsoever is korn, and wala, you have a BAND and a GENRE all to itself wrapped up in one explosive, supercreative group that defies all categorization.
Why do I like Korn, why does TheLadyOfTheLake -? *FUUUUUCK*, why the fuck DON'T YOU LIKE KORN is what we'd like to know.

besides, its been awhile since this board (the most active board in the music threads at castaways I'll have you realize) got hoPPin, like it used to, even back in the original rollingstone.com days. So when 3 or 4 of ya popped in asking why we liked korn, shiiiiiit, that was like a straightup invitation for me to get up on my soapbox and RANT.

In Thorn's world, anyone who expresses themselves in a few sentences when they could've used multiple paragraphs just isn't trying hard. ;D When you're as busy as my ass, you just don't have time to engage in long-winded argument with people who are never going to see things your way to start with, and really, why should they? I've just learned to deal with it.

#1 Thread: KORN *75 pages* #2 Thread: live shows *34 pages* #3 Thread: South Poll *33 pages* Follow The Leader indeed. . . . just try & keep up. . . WTF are you talking about here Thorny? You know that Influential Music has 121 pages, and there are at least two boards in Title Tag that are over 100 as well, right? Anyway ... that was actually a very cool write-up about your Korn konversion. I sure don't hear the same thing in Korn's music, but it's always fun to see someone talk passionately about something that moves them. And those "thunderbolt" moments are always great to share, even if you're not moved by the same bolt from the blue.

I'm talking about just the "Start Your Music Threads" directory (the first header under MUSIC), thats wtf I'm talkin about.) Glad you liked my rant ken. I love writin about korn. Someday I may do a semiautobiographical/korn biography kinda thing. I think the guys in the band would dig it. But yeah, to reiterate, this board is the #1 board under start your music threads, not the entire castaways, I meant to say.

Can't wait for those fukkers to start touring again. They're saying maybe this spring they'll embark on a US trek. Have I mentioned this spring is gonna ROCK?!? Korn tour, Silent Hill movie, new Zelda, Hell Fuckin' Yeah, I just can't contain my excitement! Now all I need is to drop out of school and quit my job so I can actually have time to enjoy it all. ;D I'm sure the new Zelda alone will have me pulling all-nighters. Can't wait; fun, fun!!

cool. I'm getting really excited for this new album. I believe Fieldy when he claims this is like their first album all over again. A new era. Korn sheds their old skin. The faded tattoo of Sir Headly faintly visible on its crumpled surface. The remaining 4 Horsemen (as I like to refer to them now) facing the rising sun in the east. Munky ready to take on the world single handedly. David readying his new chops. Fieldy: same as always, I'd wager. And Jonathan, standing tall and staring directly into the ocean of eyes gazing raptly back at him. We're ready 4U.

My sources say Korn will play SNL on November 19. The guest that week is Eva Longoria, my girl from Desperate Housewives!! Yay!
We'll just try to forget for the moment how much SNL sucks now, though it'll be difficult.
