I'm just moving to another part of Chicago. Noble Square, which borders Wicker Park, which is sort of a trendier area right now. Closer to work, further from my friends. Rent is way cheaper for a bigger place. It's the garden apartment of a four apartment building. I mainly just like the cheap rent, and that it has outdoor access. No laundry in the building. That's the only downside to it really other than being a little further from friends. Otherwise, a big upgrade.

cool. congrats. and cheaper rent is always a plus. so do you work somewhere trendy? what do you do? Nah, my job is lame. It's basically just a customer service job. Answering phones and emails to get people set up with classes and study materials and shit to get licensed and stay in compliance for securities and insurance licensing. Super lame. that's not cool. It's not very far from them still, though. No one will be missing me -- we'll still hang out just as much. But I think the part of town I'm moving too is more fun anyway, so maybe eventually they'll all follow me over there.

Okay then, much better. The hairs on the back of my neck prickled at the thought of Sigman considering his job more important than his friends. Get your friends to flock to your new neighborhood and not only will you have job AND friends, you'll also be known as King of the new area amongst your friends.

Oh, the fact that it's closer to work is just a nice perk of the place. I didn't consider that at all when looking at apartments. I was just able to get a whole lot more for the money without sacrificing much by moving to this other neighborhood.

i hate customer service. so dull. phone jobs especially. i'm sorry rocky. samps, i'm glad you cleared the air on that friends thing... i didn't want to say anything right away, but for a moment i experienced the same shock. but i should have known rocky could never be so cold...

I'm actually not on the phones too much now. A few weeks back I got moved into the special accounts department. Over here, we do a lot of email orders and stuff. The work load is actually very light compared to my old position, but the consequences of fucking up are greater.
But yes, customer service in general blows. Obviously not a chosen career path or anything, just something I'm stuck doing for now.

Oh jeez, I'd never sacrifice friends for this stupid job.
All the bars we hang out with are like right in between where they all live and where I'll be living. And public transport goes everywhere. It will only make a difference on the rare occassion when we're hanging out at one of our apartments during the week. Usually we meet up at the bar during the week and hang out at people's places on weekends. And I don't care about it taking an extra 15 minutes to get there on a weekend.
