Jeez maarts, coming down hard on Green Day there. I happen to love Dookie, and you just have to realize it's music for a generation. Almost sounds like you're making fun of the generation more than the band. And that's a little silly.

I agree with Maarts, aside from a few songs, Greed Day pretty much suck.

Whatever, to me it sounds like the voice of a generation, and at least it's not Britney Spears' voice.

You better back out before you become a Green Day fan.

Like I said, I like Dookie. The rest is pretty much trash, but I guess I've just felt like arguing lately. I'm not a good arguer.

*tries not to be upset*
warning is an awesome album, and insomniac's pretty good. i can give or take nimrod and dookie, though they're fun records. and the new single is sweet.
so... there. *more bitterness here*

Yeah, subjective. I hate any music associated with skateboards though (and more especially, sk8boards)... although that's purely coicidental, 'cos I've got nothing against skateboards really.
Nonetheless, if Green Day, Blink 182 (skate-punk my arse) and skate-related nu metal is the music of a generation, it's a generation that apparently likes just two songs rewritten ad nauseum. I blame the amount of cash kids have today for making these bands commercially successful. Bah humbug.

putting green day and blink 182 in the same group is like putting... (old) metallica and linkin park in the same group.

*Jumps to Proud's side* Green Day, in my opinion - (and at this count, I have zero GD albums - my copy of WARNING got damaged) - have slowly but irrevocably EVOLVED out of their puerile, masturbatory-punk beginnings (which, need I remind thee - are precisely what most everyone at least agrees was acceptably "good" about them) and have achieved (using WARNING as my proof) what I must admit is a classic songwriting status, in American Punk Letters. Translation: If the album Warning is any indication: Green Day have earned the "Pop Punk Crown" and have, in fact, perhaps even come so far as to earn the right to discard that crown into the suburban mall ditch and go on to continue carving out a well-earned legacy as true, blue American songwriters in the vein of X, The Blasters, Reverend Horton Heat, and name any other accepted-as-being-great rockabilly/retro-punk acts gracing our stages and stereos. Yes, I am saying that Green Day deserve just as much accolade as those aforementioned classic acts. Meaning, essentially: any and all accusatory criticisms of Green Day "sucking", etc, is merely a kneejerk reactionary response based on attitude and ignorance, rather than a careful listening of what I consider to be obviously solid songwriting, clever, biting lyrics, and undeniably talented instrumental ability and showmanship. Green Day have extruded themselves from the morass of sub-par "MallPunkers" and stand so far towering above their abilities that I would place them in the company of TOM WAITS before I'd even think about lumping them into the derogatory PopPunk category any more.
