do you qualify as an alcoholic if you have a drink every day after work??
This is the same question my mother asked me one night when she was about 60 y/o and having had 2 Scotch on ice every afternoon before supper for as long as I can remember ...
I never saw her being tipsy even once in her life ...

I say no. If you can still get to work on time & your personal hygiene remains impeccable & you make sure to eat, pay bills & do your housework, you are not an alcoholic.

Don't they call you an alchoholic if you drink more than 3 times a week and have multiple drinks each time (like 5 or more). If this is the case, most people I know are alcoholics; including myself....
Speaking of, I've turned into a complete wine-o! I can't wait for dinner tonight and the wine that's going with it....and after as well....having steak tonight, so probably drink a cab sav or malbec w/ dinner, and some [red] zinfandel, or syrah, or shiraz for you Aussies, afterwards.

Wine makes me sad. And gives me a headache (long before hangover time). How very declasse.

Hey, how did I get dragged into this?? Hmph. I'll forgive you for that comment if you send me a pound of tomatoes. It's only fair.

Gardening is the greatest. I don't think my parents have gone to the grocery store since last winter. Every day they harvest squash, eggplant, tomatoes, okra, onions, carrots, strawberries, green peppers and sometimes garlic. It's crazy. They have more vegetables than they know what to do with. They bought a giant spare freezer because two people can't eat four eggplant, 8 tomatoes, six squash, two dozen okra and six green peppers a day! I am jealous, and hope that when I "grow up" I will be doing something similar.

Wine makes me sad. And gives me a headache (long before hangover time). How very declasse. try organic wines...they don't contain sulfites (which cause the headaches) Or like Phil said, stay away from the cheap stuff. And FYI, cheap stuff doesn't mean price....Some of the best wines I've had have been under $15, and many under $10. At Total Wine, they have tons to choose from, and many of the Spanish and Italian wines are top notch for like $8.99. I bought a bottle of Italian Primitivo (which is basically American Zinfandel) for $12. To get a bottle that rivaled it from California would have cost about $25! Anyway, if you go to a place like Total Wine you can get some top quality wine without hurting your budget too much.

Oh, Argonaut Liquor is the reason I moved back to this area of Denver. It is a veritable alcoholic playground, they have EVERYTHING, and reasonably priced. I just never got into wine much because it makes me so depressed. I understand lots of people are allergic to red wine because of the sulfites, but I don't think anything is going to help me with my weeping problem..!

Wine gets me in a silly mood.
It's wierd how differnt alcohol's affect the way you feel when drunk.....Beer can get me a little sloppy, liquor, especially bourbon, can get me a little mean, and wine gets me giddy, then very sleepy.
All in all though, I'm pretty cool, calm, and collected when I drink.

Nobody can ever tell when I'm drunk anymore. I don't slur, I guess. This has gotten me in trouble; nobody keeps an eye on me and tells me when to quit because I don't seem drunk. I am hangover queen.
