A thread dedicated to discussions of natty threads, daring combos, advice on hair and fashion, tattoos, piercings, gay shoes, and Mary's dresses.
Why not expand to interior design while we're at it?

I’m rather getting into live bamboo as an accent lately & interior fountains. Lots of em. But not just any, I like them back lit with glass or crystal pieces. Soothing that.

I’m going to this erotic theme party tonight, can’t really decide what to wear.
“Dress code: mask, any type. Skin is encouraged. Private areas must remain private. This is an upscale event for the open-minded and classy; this is not a raunch party. Live out your fantasy and enjoy your anonymity. No nudie!”
So I’m seeing pictures of lovely ladies with eletrical tape holding up their tits, and I’m thinking.. how am I going to pull this off? If I wear my normal “sexy” gear I’m going to be stared at for standing out as fully-clothed; and I’m certainly not wearing electrical tape on a chilly night in Denver. Maybe I’ll just go normal and be the freak.

You could start with shiny, shiny boots of leather.
From there I'd personally go in a leather collar with studs (leash attached), rubber hotpants, and an alice band stretched over my nipples.
Accessorising can be such a troublesome chore though. Does one need a bangle? ... Would a small riding crop look out of place?... Does this ensemble make a wristwatch too prominent?

LOL. Well I guess I've decided, since I'm already dressed. Black velvet skirt (goes a little past the knees), reddish-blackish-orangish velvet halter, and yes, black shiny, shiny boots of leather, which I will be asking people to kiss periodically, but I'm sure no one will get it. Burgundy hair that goes with the shirt, as it happens. Not revealing, but decently goth with the make-up. I wish I had a leash.. Oh well. Fashion dilemma solved.

jllm I am sooooo glad you created this board!! this is my new favorite board, already. samps - your outfit for the party sounds totally amazing. I feel like I've found my fashion twins on rs.com, with lumen and you and dollybeadz and ueb and such.... I want to trade clothes with all of you So I debuted the skirt today that I was on about at the South Poll board. (Just to clarify, I did not buy a whole dress, but rather, a skirt and a blouse that go together). I didn't wear it with the shirt that goes with it, because the shirt is really fancy with all the intricate blue lacework and shit, and I felt like today just called for something much more casual. But I wore the skirt with a pretty nice charcoal t-shirt and basically it was a huge hit with everyone. So I think it was totally worth the expense. Speaking of burgundy hair, I've been having problems with my hair where the bright red fades pretty fast and ends up kind of orange-ish, which looks terrible. So this time when I had it redone, I asked the hairdresser if she could go for a deeper, darker red that wouldn't fade to orange, and now I have this really cool kinda purplish brownish red stripes in my hair that I totally love, even more than the fire-engine red. And she mixed the same red in with teh black that she dyed the rest of my hair with, so now my whole head is black but with a kind of burgundy shine, and then there are these deep almost blood-red stripes framing my face. And the whole thing is cut like a Louise Brooks-bob. I have to say, this is the most goth haircut I've ever had. Cheers, M

Can I talk about GQ dress type stuff here, or is it strictly the non stuffy or pretentious type of fashion chat you're looking for

Your hair sounds amazing Mary. Nice! Got any recent pics of it? I've never put a pic up here before (in this format) but I'm going to try, cos we took some last night before the party. Which was utterly dull. Stage show was some Jamaican goth band (I just wanted to tell them "Don't!") and a bunch of half-assed strippers. Bunch of raver boys with angel wings, and girls who just shouldn't have gone as far as they did with what they had. Not that I've got a perfect body, no no, I just know I shouldn't be walking around nearly naked in public.
Anyway! I'd totally give you the shirt I wore last night Mary, but as it's too big for me I'm sure it would be too big for you too.
Pictures forthcoming for Phil...

Oh Jesus, rubber hotpants were indeed the hit item on guys last night. I won't be horny for weeks.
