Definitely a no-brainer.

I have exciting fashion news to report!
A friend of mine has lost quite a bit of weight recenly, so she's now a size 6 and just gave me a big pile of her old size 8 jeans. And this girl is quite the fashionista, it must be said. I mean, every single pair of these jeans probably costs about $125. They all look great (I daresay, forgive me, that they are especiallly flattering to my butt!) I was in desperate need of new jeans but couldn't afford them, and now I have four brand new pairs, all super-flattering and fashionable! Woo hoo ;D
Happiness is a warm new pair of jeans.
Cheers, M

"That's really good though, girly! Now you can go out and blow that extra $200 on.. onnn... new music! "
True that, but the whole purpose was clothes clothes & clothes.
Mary I thought profs made a good chunk o’ change or are you not a full blown one yet? I could well be misinformed on your profession.

Sweetness, Mary! I had a similar gift bestowed on me, a bunch of size 6 super-dressy clothes from a co-worker who had a baby six months ago and will never see size 6 again. While I'd much rather have ass-flattering jeans, I'll take the executive-director type suits for sure.
Am I a lame-o for wanting to buy clothes at Target? They have some pretty sharp dress clothes, but I'm wondering just how much of a difference there is between buying clothes at Sprawl-mart and buying clothes at Target...

Although I admit I recently bought an Oscar the Grouch tee from Target that says "Have a rotten day." I had to. Four bucks and an important message to spread.

Oh jeez rockkid, I appreciate the promotion you've just given me, but alas, I am but a lowly graduate student Also, professors in the humanities don't make very much money - I mean, it's not bad or anything, and you can make a lot if you become a super big name, but the vast majority of unknown humanities profs don't actually make all that much more than public school teachers in average middle class districts. Compared to what graduate students piece together from stipends and teaching, though, that's a fortune!!! Let's just say that my rent already wipes out about 65% of my monthly paycheck... Coolness on the free suits, samps!! I think one could perhaps argue in favor of shopping at Target as opposed to Walmart that Target treats their employees better. I buy socks at Target all the time, they get a brand I really like, these knee-high sheer patterned black socks that look great with boots and knee-length skirts. Mmmmm. Cheers, M

and you can make a lot if you become a super big name Oy well that’s the ticket then Mary. You must get started on publishable papers now. If you were talking quality of clothes samp I’d say it’s equal. Either way you’re looking at Russian roulette in both the washing machine durability & sizing departments. The garments are all apparently made by elves who don’t stick to any known sizing charts.

I know... For my 18th birthday my friends went out and bought me an outfit at Walmart. The shirt they got was an extra small, and I (being a solid medium at the time) was like "Uh, thanks guys. Very flattering." And it fit perfectly. I think the elves are just trying to make women feel better or something.
You must have a lot of socks, Mary B. I think the last time I bought socks I was 18...

Really, I find the opposite up here. It will say medium but will look like it belongs in the kiddies department.

I wish someone would give me clothes. Why does that never happen to me?
I did go on a bit of a shopping spree last weekend while I was out of town though. Bought a very cool and funky new suit, a new pair of work shoes, TWO new pairs of casual shoes that cost more than I ever spend on shoes but that are sooooooooo comfy and molded inside, a fuzzy winter hat and two necklaces. Not to mention a load of food at Costco and some stuff for the house from HomeSense (god, I love that store.)
Shopping with my mom is a bad idea. I spend WAY too much when the two of us go out together. Eek.

Not for those with slow connections, but some guys I know threw together this video sketch exploring one of the many real fashion nightmares still prowling the world. www.bulliestogo.com/bulliestogo.com-noservicelowq.wmvIf you can't get it to work, you can just go to Tim's web-site and check it out from "bulliestogo.com". But I wouldn't advise this, as nothing else on the site is remotely funny...

That's pretty funny. We had a meeting with our residential coordinators today and non-profit housing coordinators tend to be pretty hippie, fashion-backward people. I do believe I saw a white-sock-and-sandal disaster today. A lot of clogs and socks too. Weirdos.

Sandals and socks are ingrained all across Colorado...well, among the stereotyped, generally 'moneyed' Yuppies at least...I was in Snowmass(spending some time in Aspen since it's so close)a couple of summers ago...and that was just a natural way of keeping the feet warm and still lettin' 'em breathe.
And the Europeans were the ones wearing black socks with their sandals....
Sometimes grey...and I think I saw blue also...effin' Europeans! An affront!
Full disclosure: I did it too...white socks tho. As a good Amurikin... ;D

Hmmmm….. I’ll query this here too, as it’s when it really belongs.
Gentlemen I need your Xmas gift help. If a man were the type who enjoyed putting on the dog would a fine tie pin/clip be acceptable or is that to “old school” now?

I think it would be a fine gift for someone you know would use it. But then again I think that most anything 'old school' is always acceptable.
