There is nothing like a good bottle of Champagne to start the day on the right foot ... Along with freshly squeezed orange juice Chocolatines and/or Smoked salmon and/or Oeufs Bénédictines ...

I'm not sure where to even get ginger beer around here...especially because it sound like something I would love.
Ginger is one of my favorite flavors of all time. At sushi places, I'd down those thinly sliced ones they give you alongside the wasabi...one-by-one-by-one they'd be gone.
Long ago, I useta go to this place where this bar's owner would force you to drink a shot of Mohawk Brand Ginger-Flavored Brandy (and it was 'Extra Sharp') if you lost a bet with him and everyone would be like 'No! No, not the ginger brandy!' It was quite intense. One of those sinus-clearers...
Hey I lo-o-oved the shit. People thought I was nuts.
~
First time I ever drank Jagermeister was when I took my visiting bro-in-law to our world-famous neighborhood nightclub to see a blues-guy named Ronnie Baker Brooks. His suggestion, the Jager I mean. He loves the stuff. Musta drank 10 of those in between several beers. I honestly liked it quite a bit...AND no hangover the next day!

rnr - you do know aspartame is just as bad if not worse for you than moderate amounts of sugar, i hope. i can't stand diet soda, and don't understand what everyone's problem with sugar is. as long as you're not a pig and don't drink four sodas a day (leaching calcium out of your cells at a fantastic rate) sugar is not a bad thing.
jager, on the other hand, is.

Yes, I've read the stuff about aspartame mood disorders, increased allergy-related problems...
Every six months the 'conclusive' studies change...but yeah, UNmoderated, it can't help but be bad.
I still don't see why I should put a pure simple carbohydrate in me with it's caloric content IF the alternative tastes good, has zero untoward effect (so far, yes) AND it's not going to use up my daily caloric bank account when I'd rather save myself for, say, a cannoli....or a Halloween Butterfinger..

...and what leaches calcium is the carbonic acid present in anything you drink that's carbonated n'bubbly.

whatever, not gonna bother arguing, it just bothers me that people think diet soda is so much better for them than regular.
now drinking:
glass upon glass of good old water

There honestly is no 'argument' here.
'So much better'? No. It's just what my 50-ish, guaranteed slower-metabolically (than say, yours) body says I'd better drink if I don't wanna turn into a fucking house.
'So much better' (ie superior) is not the same as being my preference after I've had the low carb diets very easily allow me to keep my weight down...
It's a lot tougher at 50 than it is at 22.
....and I drink at least 3 liters of water a day.
Tap water.
Love. It.

Sunny D with my Svedka/Code Red? Svedka is some pretty good vodka. Rated #3 in Wine Enthusiast or some such shit. Grey Goose or Ketel One probably will never fit my drinkin' budget.. Pretty fuckin' bad when it takes a post like this to bring back from my semi-retirement of the boards (but perhaps speaks of my recent dark bearings...) but me dear ol' doctor here knows best: SVEDKA FUCKING RULES THE MIDLINE VODKAS!!! For 10 bucks a bottle it's something no freezer should go unstocked with. Smmmoooooth as all getout and is perfect for sipping straight up (esp. the raspberry). I taste tested this against Skyy and IMO it totally trounced. I'd take a bet that our Smirnoff friend here might believe the same. On a higher end vodka, I'm a fan of Ketal 1 but far and above anything I've had is a great little joy called Ciroc. It's distilled from grapes and carries the faintest essence of them. Drink it straight & chilled --- wouldn't even imagine a mixer with this it's so pure (about $26). ah ~~~~~~ liquid refreshments...... SO many tastes I enjoy but sadly can't afford like I used to. I limit myself to a couple of high end 6-packs a week and now that it's getting cooler and some of the winter brews are coming out,,,,,,ARRGGGHHHH!!! Nothing like a good, semi-cool stout on a frosty night!

Hey Ayinger, welcome back! I don't like the sounds of this 'semi-retirement'... hope you stick around. I've never tried Ciroc, but I'm highly intrigued. It sounds delicious. I'm not a vodka connoisseur (sp?) by any means, but I find a lot of vodkas a bit rough to sip straight. Once the Grey Goose is gone, I'll have to try this out. Don't think I've ever tried Svedka either... I actually don't drink vodka that often - I'm very much a beer and wine kinda girl. But I like it now and then. Though Layla's glass of whiskey on the porch is sounding right up my alley these days.

thx for the word....I'm just trying to weed thru some shit. Ha -- just spent about 1/2 an hour @ "What Are You Listening To" banging out some of what's stacked up on the CD changer and found it almost therapeutic.....
On tipping the vodka: getting something that's made 1/2 way decent is the key to enjoying it straight. Otherwords, DON'T initiate yourself with DarkEyes!!!! The downgrade is that you get to realize that there IS a difference between brands and sometimes that leads to developing a more expensive taste. But then again sometimes you stumble across something like a Svedka and realize that cost isn't always the key.
That said, the Ciroc I feel is in a class by itself --- totally fuckin' enjoyable to me but I also reach for it more on just when I want a special occassion sort of feel. To me it's got such a different current running through it that that's why I stressed not to just make a screwdriver out of it or something. Hell, I won't even put it over tapwater-made ice --- too many impurities to screw it up with.
Layla's portrait of a tumbler of the hard stuff out on the porch nails exactly what my method of relaxing was throughout most of the summer. Just change things up to a cheap gin martini (3 olives, please!) + a stogie and elevate yourself to a second floor balcony and that was me on any warm night I could manage!

and + Haven't drank much in the past few months, but I'm celebrating damn it. And so what if it's at my mommy's house, and she's letting me crash there so I don't have to drink and drive home. That's awesome. Yeah. and... Welcome back Don!
