How was Sonic Youth, Rocky? I was a real dumbass and thought since I lived on the same block as where the show was gonna be held, I could easily buy tickets that night. That and SOMEONE was stupid enough to let Modest Mouse and Sonic Youth play on the SAME NIGHT ant the SAME TIME within TWO BLOCKS of each other, and I was waiting till last minute to decide who I was going to see. So I didn't end up seeing either of them.

Damn samps, that sucks.
Sonic Youth was fantastic! The sound at the Majestic is pretty horrendous, so the vocals were pretty echo-y, but the band still sounded amazing. Mostly stuff off of Sonic Nurse, but they threw in a whole bunch of older favorites too ("Pacific Coast Highway", "Schizophrenia", even "Kool Thing"). The show ended with Wolf Eyes (terrible band by the way) joining them onstage for a freak out off of Confusion is Sex. Fucking killer.

Didn’t Mary just proclaim Wolf Eyes to be a great live band? I’m so confused. Rocky Sigman pitted against The Blaney.
Another reason I didn’t rush to get tickets in advance to Sonic Youth was because I haven’t had a chance to listen to Sonic Nurse yet... didn’t want to go into their show not knowing any of their new material. I have this giant hang-up regarding poser-ism.
Sucks though. I’d be kicking myself except I can’t bring myself to feel any real emotion at all lately. Kinda nice actually.

8 songs off Sonic Nurse, makes me wonder if I would have been slightly dissapointed if they play the same set here in Atlanta later this month No Teenage Riot,Candle,Dirty Boots,Empty Page, hey at least they played one off "Sister" It's always interesting to see which Sonic Youth is touring the let's play everything/or were promoting the latest album Ex of shows NYC Ghosts Tour(Opened for Pearl Jam) was new material for 45min with Teengae Riot,Kool Thing Murray St. tour- Everyting from Evol thru Murray st.(only Rain on Tin) Dwazee Muse were amazing they even did a rare accoustic performance at a radio station and I love how NYC is so dissapointed with their set list vs Atlanta which still is reguarded as the best show so far and no 3rd encore boo-hoooo

No Teenage Riot,Candle,Dirty Boots,Empty Page, hey at least they played one off "Sister" Actually, they played TWO off of Sister. I bet when you see them there will still be a ton of Sonic Nurse, but the other stuff will probably be all different. I doubt they're playing "Kool Thing" at every show, for example, and I'd bet that "Teenage Riot" gets thrown in occassionally when "Kool Thing" isn't in the set. And there's no way they're playing "Inhuman" every night.

Saw the destined-for-the-hall-of-fame Underground Death Metal show @ Burt's Tiki Lounge featuring Thylacine (locals I never heard of) + LORD BEHERIT (my friends LD, Azelcraz, Rocker, & Russell, most of em from Ibex Throne), and Headliners THE OBLITERATE PLAGUE, homegrown Cthulhuian Black Death Metal of Dessicating Infernal Blasphemic Hategrind. My friend Tony (of Anima Nera & Taught By Birds) played the scorching brimstone lead guitar, while Berzerker helmed the front mic + guitar, bringing down the house into a sadistic fury of wailing, screeching bedlam and drunken anarchy. Man was it ever the best -- we all got so freaKing drunk, I had to call in the next day. I'm telling you this show will live on in the Memory of Underground shows for Time Immemorial. Obliterate Plague did a razorsharp, pummeling cover of TORMENTED by the one & only SLAYER, and that nearly brought down the house right there. Fucking Sweet Evil Bliss.

The show was awesome.
Modest Mouse did mostly songs from the new album, but did a few older ones as well. I didn't even know all the songs, as I'm still fairly new to the band, but their set was great, and they really sounded incredible live.
The two opening bands (I'm not even sure of the name of the first one, and the second one was a duo called French Toast) were okay. Not great but not terrible either.
It's funny, there must've been 800 14-year-old scenester kids there. They kind of made me feel old haha.
