Let the autumn of great shows begin:
October 10th--Wilco, Ann Arbor October 26th--Guided by Voices, Detroit October 28th--Social Distortion, Detroit (maybe) November 13th--The Pixies, Chicago November 14th--Prison Rodeo plays a battle of the bands in Detroit (could be rough after driving back from Chicago, but we're going to work hard at putting on a damn good show) November 20th--The Pixies, Detroit
Definately going to be going into work looking awfully grizzled a couple times in the next few month. At least those Pixies shows are on Saturdays. Most concerned about the day after GBV.

I think it's like that everywhere this month, Rocky. I dunno, these past two months have just been crazy insane for live shows. I'm so excited about VooDoo next weekend.
Not going to Social D in New Orleans, though. Girlfriend wanted to, but it's on a weeknight, so she backed out...eh well. No pussyfooting around on that one, either, it's gonna sell out in a day or two.

We saw Jackyl twice as well. Unlike last time, we didn't get much beer thrown on us.

Saw the Pixies like a week ago at DU. Rocked, rocked, rocked. Maybe the best band I've seen live.. dunno.
A couple weeks ago we went and saw Thrill Kill Kult and then Ministry. Thrill Kill were just kinda fun because they were getting so old and their music is so beautifully CHEESE to begin with, it was really quite a joy to watch them. I'm certain the lead singer has had breast implants.. It was a really strange crowd. And then as soon as Ministry started I got kicked in the head in the mosh pit and had to go home -- luckily home is a quick walk through half an alley and up some stairs. Too bad I missed them, although I can say now that my life just wouldn't have been complete without getting kicked in the head in a mosh pit. I wish I could remember if I retaliated properly.

The Moment Has Arrived
OCT 13, 2004 The Pixies Atlanta Ga Fox Theater
Setlist In Heaven-Wave of Mutilation(UK Surf) Here Comes Your Man Winterlong Bone Machine Subbacultcha Dead Cactus VamosDut I Bleed #13 Head On Crackity Jones Debaser U-Mass Levitate Me Gouge Away Broken Face Something Against You Tame Caribou Hey Monkey Gone To Heaven Velouria Mr. Grieves Nimrod Son The Holiday Song Isla de Encanta Where Is My Mind?
Encore Wave of Mutilation Gigantic
I'm still in shock of just how good it they were,The Thrills were a bit boring and that was the only lowpoint of the night. Frank wore wraparound shades the entire set and was in a great mood, alluding to all the mistakes that were being made but he didn't cared,it was just great to be on stage tonight. Kim was smiling and smoking the entire time, she must have a lot of friends in Atlanta due to her constant pointing and waving or just the love and appreciation of the fans. Joey rocked a purple western cowboy shirt and just had a sense of professionalism and wanted to reach out to people between songs tossing picks/extra drumsticks Dave was in workout mode and didn't take any breaks till the encore on the drums The set was SMOKE,SMOKE,SMOKE and a couple catcus shapped props with a screen that bounced off the lights in a backdrop. I have NEVER been to a show where people were more excited or happy when they would play anything no one was going "But I Wanna Hear..." People were just thrilled to be there and not one person we talked to didn't know the albums/history/ or lyrics.
The Whole Show is The Highlight a few intresting things that happened -Frank became a maniac during Mr. Grieves and waited for the audience to chime in before he would go further -Isa went on for 10 min with Joey taking a drumstick to the pedle while he shook hands with the front row(myself included) -The Crowd couldn't mosh so we pogoed due to the nailed down expensive seats we were jumping on at the Fox -Frank keep trying to have Kim take lead vocals on certain songs pointing at her and she did on "Debaser and Hey -The finished and stood on stage to 5 min standing ovation the frank pointed at his watch and asked dave if he could take a couple more songs ,/before the encore
I missed The Velvet's comeback(have seen Lou Reed though),Never saw The Clash(Saw Joe solo),so this is something I'll always appreciate and remember it made feel 15 when I first listened to Doolittle all over again and I just hope it won't be the last time I see the Pixies again, well I'll still see Frank Black every chance I get if not

Wow, awesome set....I'd love to see the Pixies. Playing Wave Of Mutilation twice seems odd. Color me jealous.

Yeah, the UK Surf version is my favorite of the two...they just usually don't play both is all.
