Nothing like wild, windy mountain roads, eh?
Well, since it's been raining here for the last two weeks preventing me from completing the work on my deck, I guess I'll be fixing the rear brakes on the Sleeper this weekend. Poor thing has really been sucking hind tit ever since I bought this house... and ironically, now that I have a garage in which to work on it!

Okay serious stuff here, call going out for help to one & all. I promised my son a wax job on his car & to help him get the ton of tree sap he had on it off first. Now I’m a huge fan of Meguiar’s products (they’ve taken every thing off my cars with ease before) So long story short none of my gear is working. We take a quick run to the detail store & buy specific bug/sap remover & it’s still no go. Now old mommy here gets her bright (not) idea. Ahha I say a little bit of rubbing compound will fix this. Now I’ve used RC w/out troubles before. However not on his black beauty. Bloody black paint. Now there are light surface scratches every where we removed sap, namely the hood & trunk (I thankfully left the roof alone for now) So I whip out the ole Meguiar’s scratch X which also fails! (Believe me that is a first) Anyone give me hints short of repainting to get these fing tiny scratches out!
HELP HELP HELP I feel like shit, I wrecked his car. He’s being really nice about it but I know he’s choked, I would be. HELP!

Thanks Phil but unfortunately the compound is what caused the scratches. I’m going to try claying. If you can think of anything else that doesn’t involve compound fire away.

You're not the first, Rock. A polishing compound should work. Polish has a much finer abrasive than rubbing compound and should restore the finish. You'll need to feather in the edges and finish with a good wax. If it's too labor intensive for you, you could take it to a professional detailer and they will probably use a buffer on it.

I overbuffed a beautiful British racing green finish I had on a '74 LeMans right before my sister's wedding, oh like 16-17 years ago and caused it to prematurely deteriorate(ie rust like crazy)probably because I waxed it well once and the was just too friggin lazy, but at allthe places where there was an exposed outward crease, within two years, rust crept in.
It looked great for the wedding.
Be careful with the buffer because there's only so many micrometers of finish there.

I have a question for the american drivers here :
What is it about the fact every car with a U.S. plate always drives in the LEFT lane doing EXACTLY the posted speed limit and refusing to get into the right lane no matter how many cars "tailgating" them or having to pass them in the right lane ??
Today I saw a car from Mass. getting onto a four lanes highway and getting right into the left lane even though there was no circulation in the right lane but cars were speeding along in the left lane ...
The left lane is for overtaking, not crusing along ...%&**%$#&()&%#%&*&%

Illinois actually passed a law which said that slower drivers have to yield that left-most lane, when it becomes apparent that cars are overtaking them on the right.
Would just LOVE to see the damned thing enforced say, once or twice.
One prob is that the expressways/tollways here are in the State Police's jurisdiction and for better or worse there simply are not very many of them....of course it means that most of us, IF we do it in a way NOT to make ourselves stick out, can speed like crazy.
Tho with a group of assholes driving the limit, 4 abreast, there will certainly be an impediment to going 15-20 over the limit the way I normally do....
[knocks wood, hard!]

Needless to say he changed 'em out for that. Check the old Hornet (red & White) Ahhhhhhhhhhh. www.coldlakeinfo.com/lyle/events/cars.html

Damn! I dont know about all the joint rolling and beer drinking while you drive--that would be fun--but I do light up a Marlboro and cruise in my 78 Chevy Custom Deluxe pickup. Manual trans baybee. Ugly as shit too--needs a paint job. Throw on a Best of Mountain cassette and its on. I want a bumper sticker that says "GOT HEMI? NO!" I love that truck for some reason..Ugly as shit, runs like a champ...No Air Conditioning.....Yeah.
