I've got no qualms about killing (the wrong) bugs. Scorpions and centipedes, in particular, always demand immediate and complete termination. Unlike spiders, these guys move around continually looking for prey -- which makes them unacceptable in or immediately around one's home.
I friggin' hate centipedes. Creepy, very tough to kill, and very, very fast moving. Had three of 'em here in the house in 2006, and I've got to say I've never seen any other bugs that bothered me so.
How are wasps any less useful than bees? Don't they pollinate plants as well? Had a few of those here in early fall, but they were obviously on their last legs and were quite swattable.

I think most wasps are predators. I used to give all spiders a pass, but we have too many around here and since I kept getting bitten by them I have been giving them the shoe of doom. It's just the little ones I go after -- they seem to be the ones that bite all the time.
RIP on your spider pal, Thorny. Below is my pet bug piece. The whole story can be found at Bared Souls, "Out of the Woods."
The Pill-bugs and Daddy-Long-Legs have taken over the tent. I don’t mind sharing with them - they’re better than roaches and flies, which fortunately have not shown much interest in my abode. There are some tiny bugs around here, which I believe to be mites, but they evidently don’t like people; they bite once and jump off (I hope they don’t carry some horrible disease - maybe that’s what the headaches etc. are from. Hmmm...) Nope, the Daddy-long-legs and Roly-polies are my friends. It’s too much trouble to unsnap, unbuckle and open the tent flap every time I see one, so when one comes over to my side of the tent, I flick him back over to their side. Soon they’ll be trained. Hey, this could be better than a Russian flea circus: “Step right up! See the eighth wonder of the world! Jeff’s trained Daddy-long-legs and Roly-polies!” I’m watching a D-L-L over in the corner. He’s interested in a tiny piece of wax, turning it over and over. He picks it up and tries to eat it, then throws it down with disdain (I swear!) Such agile little creatures. It’s the tiny bugs that I don’t like. They bite, and you just know that under a microscope they look like monsters. One good thing about the cold: the bastard mosquitoes are all but gone.

So cute, dude. My parents got a German Shepherd puppy yesterday. They had to drvie 14 hours round trip to get her, so they and this as-yet-unnamed little lady stayed with me last night. I fell in love with her, but she's also the reason I'm so fucking exhausted this morning, since she cried all night and I ended up sleeping on the kitchen floor beside her kennel to keep her company. Total sweetheart though.

Check it out, my dog is the PetSmart Smart Pet of the Day for February 2. If you go to www.petsmart.com, you'll see him in the bottom left corner. Then you click to expand. Or you can get there direct through this link: www.petsmart.com/ps/applications/smart_pet_of_the_day/main.jsp?CONTENT%3C%3Ecnt_id=10134198673211795&FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=25343 74302023718&bmUID=1170420835701 I'd suggest the first method, though. It's way more adorable. He's only on there for today, tomorrow it'll be some other dog.

Krewes des Chiens is this Saturday, and the theme is Jail House Rock. So my wife made the boys these costumes, sorry if it stretches things: So yeah, we're walking them in that parade, then we're coming home, frying up some wings and drinking, then we're going to the "human parade" here in town. It's Mardi Gras, bitches!
