Interesting & bang on accurate point. I’d like to meet everyone at least once to & to be honest some I’d be asking back for coffee & long discourse & others whom I’d just chalk up with a simple well, that was nice.

I dunno if he'd appreciate me telling this story, but maybe it'll make him come out if he's lurking...
Well, the Bear, also known as LurkerBear, and I live in the same city. Right?
In perhaps the most ironic thing ever to happen to anyone on these boards, I woke up at, like, five one morning and couldn't get back to sleep. So I went to work out...
And got an e-mail later that day from the Bear, asking me if I worked out at a "certain health promotion at a local hospital." After hearing that I did, he told me that he saw me there but couldn't for the life of him place exactly who I was until he got home and on his computer. He asked me if I remembered some old guy staring at me all funny the whole time I was working out, but I didn't.
So yeah, ladies and gentlemen, that's the story of how I actually got lurked on by the LurkerBear.

That would be creepy if it wasn't the best story ever.

Shane comforted me (via phone) many a time when I was taking care of my aunt's house in Florida two summers ago. "Comforted" in the classic sense of the word! Talked to JLLM a few times over the phone but his number was so goddamn long it took forever to get hold of the bugger.

Had a ball talking with Don Pitcher on the phone several times....a ball of energy, most especially where music's concerned... "a ball of energy" me??? yeah, it HAS to be when music is on the line....but then that's because I knew YOU were on the other side of the line and could carry such a convo with me! Doc, each time I've spoken to you it's almost like we have years of history between us rather than just the banter here on these boards. Trust me folks: my enthusiasm in voice over the phone pales under Doc's rapid Windy City brogue! The only thing better would be that sitdown over pizza & beer.....there's been a couple of close opportunities on that end too but being only a couple hours distance apart I'm sure it'll happen sometime or the other. (BTW: you'll be getting another package from me either Sat. or Mon.,,,,,,just forgive me on the Roy Harper set....it was somethings I pulled off the racks at the last minute....)I know I could probably sit down with Maarts and GlennH and have each of us throw tunes at each other all day. Thorn and JAC would be a good hookup too to have at the same time.....I picture a basement somewhere, cinderblock walls, stark flourescent light, plastic deck chairs, some cheap beer but a decent (read LOUD) stereo. And I'd damn well be sure to have burnt the first two Capt. Beyond discs for Thorny to witness his head spin around in enjoyment at "Dancing Madly Backwards (On a Sea of Air)." Meeting Phil would be a life experience in itself I feel.....with a good dose of gluttony (hopefully) to boot! Dear departed Lumen....ah, I always hoped to bump into her in Louisville back when I was going down there. And then there was Gahn (sp?) over at the old boards.....SHE had both a head and a soul I'd like to have picked over. I'm passing over a couple of other names I'm sure as I've only had my one cup of coffee so far (ArT n' ToPsY wuld be a fun pair I always thought too...) but I have to give a shout out to Strato for sure. Jeff, I've always been sorry that I couldn't do that one attempted meetup waaayyyyy back in the day....had to be 2000 or so. Got to be some heavy times around then for both of us.....sometimes having that old RS board was a godsend. That, and being able to trade supportive emails. I've SO dropped off with communicating like I used to; both in posts and personal messages. Sometimes I think it'd be a better type of life to go back to seclusion and being a hermet and being able to tap into that part of my 'self' that I had back then. dunno........ They were hard times my man but there was also some incredible good flowing out too. A lot of people poured out portions of their Souls back then. Yeah, hard times.....funny how they can somehow become 'special' too..... Always my best to you, my fellow Hoosier. In the words of Mr. Young: ....long may you run...

Hey, Don, how come there isn't a Bared Souls board on here? I would think it would be a good outlet for your descriptive tales. Btw, I'm not sure how much fun we would be--unless you got a few mixed drinks in us! Raising ornery boys has pretty much sapped the life energy out of us. I wouldn't be much of a talker, but then again, Topsy can speak for both of us! The only time I really talk in a group conversation is to make a short, pithy observation or a sharp, witty one-liner. Much like I am here, come to think of it.
I called and talked to Charmed on the phone once--for like, four hours. Of course, she didn't ever return the favor, so I had to pay for the entire time we ever talked. Julie and I used to have Kath's phone number--we talked to her a few times each. She even talked to our boys once and was impressed by their vocabulary. I also talked to Jeff (Strat-0) once a long time ago.

I want to go out drinking with rocdoc and stratman, to prove to both of 'em that just cause i'm a crazy socialist chick in SF doesn't mean i can't drink like a champion, swear like a sailor, talk shit about sports, and hang out with crusty old conservative dudes Cheers, MLOL Mary! It would be one of the most unique experiences of my life, if ever we were to meet. Believe it or not, I think we'd actually have some fun too! And I'm not as crusty in real life, as I sometimes come across here.

It wasn't until moving to Berkeley that I learned that an entire sub-genre of punk rock is called "crustypunk" because the kids who listen to it are these squatter punk street kids who never bathe so they get all crusty.
That was totally irrelevant, I know, but I just had to share. An unknown link between anarchist punk rockers and right-wing conservatives: crust!!
Cheers, M

Hey, there's something we have in common--I like Leonard Cohen, too. What song is that from?

Hey, there's something we have in common--I like Leonard Cohen, too. What song is that from? Famous Blue Raincoat - I must have listened to that song at least 100 times in June, on various trains between various European cities...
