It wasn't until moving to Berkeley that I learned that an entire sub-genre of punk rock is called "crustypunk" because the kids who listen to it are these squatter punk street kids who never bathe so they get all crusty. That was totally irrelevant, I know, but I just had to share. An unknown link between anarchist punk rockers and right-wing conservatives: crust!! Cheers, MThere was a phase in the last 80s/early 90s when bands like NMA and the Levellers (or more pertinently, the stinking, ditch-dwelling luddites who followed them around the country) were known by all and sundry as crusties. Yeah, spoke to smurfles. When accents cannot be bridged... Still, it was fun even without the babel fish. |
