I thought the interview was a little disappointing, though interesting. Not exactly indepth - but I guess he does have a book to sell!

Though I was never really a fan of Pantera, it is nevertheless my duty to express my deepest sympathies to fans and family of Dimebag Darrell, whose senseless murder (along with the killings of the other fans in the audience) has shocked, saddened and outraged me. It is a sad day, indeed.

Okay Jac. I've never been able to get far enough past Kozolek's warbly voice (at least I think that's where I was getting hung up) to truly embrace Red House Painters or his solo work. In fairness, whenever I do revisit them it's never enough of a concerted effort, so inevitably I keep going back and shelving them. Well I think I've found the answer ... What an amazing piece of music this is. Right at the top of my musical obsession list right now, and I'm thinking perhaps the key to cracking whatever has caused RHP to slip past me previously.

Yeah, it's a great record isn't it? I'm glad you're enjoying it. It's been a couple of months since I gave it a proper listen...maybe I'll take it with me to work tomorrow and play it on the drive. By any chance have you read my review of it on the first page of this very board? I would suggest that you re-enter the world of RHP in reverse chronological order, although skipping Old Ramon and beginning with Songs For a Blue Guitar, which has a sense of variety akin to Ghosts of the Great Highway (not to mention "Make Like Paper", which is almost as grungy as "Salvador Sanchez"). And if you like "Glenn Tipton" you will surely love Kozelek's solo albums Rock and Roll Singer and the all-AC/DC deconstrusction effort What's Next To The Moon.
At any rate, it is wonderful to know that you are enjoying Ghosts...!

I was thinking about the reverse order thing with RHP actually, so good call. Sometimes, you can't appreciate the early work of artists until you have perspective from where they ended up. I liked "Glen Tipton" before I heard a note for the Judas Priest reference alone.

Anyone heard the new big smash "I Want To Be A Cobra?"
