The ONLY reason Art and Roc (and any conservative right wingers) feel that what WE say is the "gospel truth", is because THEY ARE PROJECTING WHAT THEY THEMSELVES KNOW onto us.

Er, perhaps the reason leftists have directed a great deal of their public statements against Bush and not bin Laden is because we live in a democracy where the government is, at least in theory, responsive to the people. Thus criticism of our government is a fundamental part of our system, and we imagine that such criticism can actually serve a purpose - whether through convincing our fellow citizens to "vote the bastards out" or convincing our representatives to support particular policies or what have you.

On the other hand, posting on the internet about how much we hate bin laden does absolutely NOTHING and it's totally fucking obvious anyway. The guy blew up 3000 people, obviously he, um, sucks (understatement of the year) - but what purpose is actually served by saying so? Meanwhile, criticism of bush, at least in theory, can actually affect the way the government is run.

And, ultimately, since this board is about the THE WAR IN IRAQ, why on earth would we be talking abou bin laden?? He has nothing whatsoever to do with the war in iraq. The man who is responsible for sending us to war in iraq is bush. That might be a good thing, and it might be a bad thing, and the point of this board, from what I can grasp, is to figure out which one it is. Why would we talk about bin laden?

Bush ain't concerned with something as PETTY as flying a couple PLANES into a couple BUILDINGS and killing a few thousand innocent civilians.
