Don't ask me why I want to know, I just find this kind of thing interesting, especially if you guys will do this as well: If you are loyal to one television station when it comes to your local news, please provide a link to their website here so I can check it out. I really don't know why I find it so interesting, but I do. As for me, yes, I am loyal to one station and have been for years. It's the NBC affiliate out of Oklahoma City, KFOR channel 4. The KFOR Website

Jac ... I don't watch much local news ...
Petty crimes, burning buildings and car wrecks don't excite that much ...
The only news cast worth watching is Radio-Canada but the english network (CBC) doesn't have a local broadcast from Québec city, only Montréal !

Hmm...very interesting. I'm kind of the opposite...I like watching the local news much more than the national news. The only time I really like watching Fox or CNN or CNN Headline News or MSNBC or any of the network news broadcasts is when there's some serious shit going down. I surf those channels a couple of times a day just to see if anything MAJOR is happening..."major" as defined within my personal parameters...for instance, Alberto Gonzales stepping down would not be considered "major" to me, no matter how important it is to the grand scheme of things...Hurricane Katrina would definately be considered "major". The MOST major story of the past 10 years would, IMO, be the Asian Tsunami, with 9/11 running a very close second.
I also like to find out who died, especially in the entertainment world. Call me morbid...

I've always got the bulk of my news (in french and english) via the newspapers and weekly magazines but now it's on the internet ...

Every morning I download 4 papers whilst checmking out the boards (Telegraaf, Volkskrant, Sydney morning herald, washington Post, sometimes also The INdependent or the Times for UK-news).
I watch local news, mostly the 6 o'clock news from Channel 7 or, if I'm late home, Sky News and CNN. SBS has a Dutch news bulletin every morning around 7am which I sometimes catch for sentimental reasons.
Try to catch ESPN's Sportscentre at 10 too.

Heather Unruh I think KFOR first earned it's loyalty from me when Heather Unruh was anchoring. She was an excellent newscaster and possibly the most beautiful woman I've ever seen in the anchor's chair. That's my opinion, some may not find her so easy on the eyes. These days KFOR doesn't go for the uber-attractive anchorwoman. Linda Cavanaugh was alright back in the day, but she's gotta be in her late 50's now. Meg Alexander is nothing special, that's for sure, but she has improved as a newscaster since she first began. Ally Myers is very pretty when she's reporting in the field, seen from afar...but when she takes the desk you notice something subtly strange about her eyes that ruins it all. Channel 9, the CBS affiliate, is the one that tries hard to keep a stable of hotties. But I don't like to watch their newscast unless I have to cuz they've got kind of an uppity, snooty air about the whole thing.

I never watch the local news unless someone I know is going to be on. I only watch national news if there's something visual that can't be fully understood with print media, like natural disasters and other forms of destruction.

I never watch the local news. I listen to the local news on our AM station around here or on our NPR affiliate station. I can't stand the way newscasters look and would rather just listen to it on the radio. I have pretty much stopped watching TV all together in the last year.

I read the news, and I could care less about the local stuff.
Next story: Binghamton - The Burning Shitpile of the Northeast.
I like the New York Times, the BBC, and I'm forced to read The Wall Street Journal.

Don't get me started about the local TeeVee news here. I've almost gone on terrific rants about it on the Things You Hate board.
I usually read the local newspaper at lunch; it's not very good either, but it's print at least, and makes an attempt at professionalism once in a while.
The TV crews are ridiculously pathetic. I try to watch some in the morning before work, but I can't usually stand much of it. The two with the largest budgets are the worst, so I usually end up watching the also-ran station. I can't stand all the chit-chat bullshit. Just give me the news and try to be professional - use good grammar and pronunciation, seeing as how you're paid to talk. They are just ghastly! Now, a little accent doesn't put me off - I'm bothered more by phony affectations and cutsey-talk. Don't tell me to "Look at this," and spare me the editorializing after the story (Such a tragic story!) I'll make up my own mind about it, thank you very much. One idiotic anchor clicks her tongue before every item... Ugh! We have a "weather reporter" (read: not a meteorologist) who thinks he's a riot, but is really an overly glib moron. I emailed the sap once to tell him that a "barn burner" is a successful special event, or an arsonist, but not a hot day (he had gotten very fond of saying that). We have another weather lady who must have spent a fortune on elocution or diction lessons. She says, "ICCCCCCE-olated thunder showers, presumably to keep from saying "assolated" or "ahsolated" but it is far more annoying than just speaking more naturally.
I could easily go one for pages about this, but like I said, don't get me started...

I used to work for a local radiostation. I was part of the current affairs-program for 11 years, did make some bulletins for shows an I did the sports show on sunday afternoon for quite some time by myself (that is researching, reporting, presenting and the technical side of the broadcast) and it was the biggest challenge yet. It had the air of amateurism of it, that's why I can relate to the people making those programs. Didn't pay a penny, all the music played on the show came from my collection too. And it was fun.
