Anyone here actually see that 'Cats & Dogs' movie?
I'm guessing that's where the machine gun cat came from...
I'd say it was far from great, but it definitely had some interesting concepts..
That mocassin is one BIG fucking snake! I for one would shit...
Hey Bungalow Bill What did you kill Bungalow Bill...
I love that song...

I got the baby one today. This is a 4-foot brown banded water snake. Diet: fish and amphibians. Non-venomous, but occasionally aggressive, toothy, and will bite. I saw him this morning and had to stake him out, where he was lurking under the dam's waterfall, for quite some time today before he presented his head well enough that I could nail him. Stratman, wherever you are, the shot shells worked great! I disdain killing something and not using it, so I skinned him, and his hide is tanning in the garage now. KayJay refused to cook him, so the coons of the creek will feast tonight! The skin will make a nice guitar strap and maybe a hat band. It's a beautiful skin, and a shame to have to kill the animal, but they are extremely common and not very beneficial. In fact, many species of darter (one of their favorite taste treats) around here are endangered and only exist in a few creeks and rivers in this state. Whether my particular darter is endangered, I don't know, but they look just like the ones in the Cahaba river that are, so I don't feel too bad nailing a common brown banded m/f that has been eating my fish like there's no tommorrow! This guy is about half the size of the one I nailed that slithered off to the secret snake graveyard to die.

Yeah, he was still a little drippy. I'm leaning back on the handrail post.

You should definitely have definitely eaten him.
How far away from him were you when you shot him?
I used to always go fishing with this redneck guy a few years older than me, and always got a kick out of when he'd pick up a water moccassin by the tail and snap its neck by flinging his wrist. Good stuff.
Last time I saw anyone kill a snake was my mom's two fox terriers. They're always leaving dead copperheads on her porch.

I wouldn't have minded eating it - it looked like fish meat only tougher, and very easy to clean, but KayJay wasn't having any so I didn't bother.
I was only about 8 feet from him. Not a great feat of marksmanship with those little shot shells.
[edit] But I must say, nailing the one I got a couple of weeks ago from the deck with the .22 pellet gun was a different matter!

I guess we've lost most of our Michiganders here, or they've moved... but I read there's a big push on in MI to outlaw dove hunting. I don't get that. Mourning doves are among the commonest and stupidest animals in the bird family. They're about like pidgeons, only tastier. What, was Dick Chaney going to come for a visit?
