buddy, between you and kat and the scottsy connection (besides the most excellent strawman and countless other RSers past), you've gotten me completely into the antepodean/australian/kiwi music scene.
this certainly is just about the least i can do.
i thank ya!
DID you notice that a couple of the bloglinks i'd posted at the blog thread were AU and NZ music sites?
this reminds me of an old WONDERFUL wc fields line:
'aah yesss, there was a woman who once drove me to drink.
(*pause*)
...and for that i shall be eternally grateful'

Good lord its been TOO long since I last posted here... so much water under the bridge.... so how is everyone? Well I hope...I have been intensely busy, working two jobs... so that would explain my lack of presence...
Also on a slightly down note, I have been suffering from some anxiety / stress / depression issues... all of wehich are largely being managed with medication and I am seeking out some counselling... its been a couple of tricky months for me, but I have to admit, I feel like I might be finally winning the war, and to be honest, some of the issues I am confronting now have been with me since my teenage years, I guess I just never had the courage to confront them in my younger years...
But on a musical note, I am enjoying both the new David Bridie and Augie March albums tonight.... I kida wondered about the David Bridie, but, man, am I pleasantly suprised.... this Cd is GREAT! It is most definitely going to get played FAR more often by me....
Can't wait for the new album by The Church to arrive on my shores too... have my copy pre - ordered and ready to recieve....SO excited!

It's much more mellow that Uninvited, almost dreamy...but again a great album. Got also the single Pangaea which is more bliss.
Stoked to get tickets to see Brian Eno in the Operahouse in June! Talk about artists you alwaus wanted to see live- Eno's one of my all-time heroes and it is going to happen (unless the swine flu fucks everything up)....
Scott, I'm real sorry to hear about your state of mind. Brother, if at any time I can help you out with something, do not hesitate to call. I started working out to get rid of some anxieties of my own. I look forward to lose a bit of weight and do something in the evenings- too often I feel like I'm all about work. I get a personal trainer from monday and hopefully she can give me some good tips to organise my eating- and work out habits.
Looks like my mother's coming down under to visit from August onward too. Excellent- I know she's gonna love my new place!

maarts you gotta see this... Midnight Oil: Three Nights in Mercury 1997 (Ex- Aud) FLAC
Mercury Lounge, New York December 5,6 and 7, 1997
OU Notes: In December 1997 the Oils played three nights at New York's Mercury Theatre. Each night was captured by the same taper in the audience, and I have to say these are the best, clearest audience recordings I have ever heard. They are also fantastic shows. I don't know the venue, but it sounds pretty small and intimate, with both band and audience having a great time. A lot of the songs that would later become "Redneck Wonderland" are played over the three nights. Most of them had new names by the time they were recorded, and some also changed quite a bit. I have some CD covers that I made years ago on here as well. The three shows are spread across four discs - refer to the CD covers to see where to split things. There is a fair bit of variation in the setlists from night to night. Highlights include "You May Not Be Released", an outtake/leftover from the Diesel and Dust album later used as a B-side for Blue Sky Mining. Each night closes with "Know Your Product" by the legendary Aussie punk band The Saints. And on night two we even get a brief snippet of Led Zeppelin's "Dazed And Confused"! The lists are also long, with 21 songs played each night.
Setlists: 5th December: Truganini Power And The Passion Dreamworld You May Not Be Released What Goes On White Skin Black Heart My Country E-Beat King Of The Mountain Cemetery Haulaway One Country Forgotten Years US Forces Blot The Dead Heart Blue Sky Mine Don't Wanna Be The One Best Of Both Worlds Beds Are Burning Know Your Product
6th December: King Of The Mountain Power And The Passion Blot Dreamworld Put Down That Weapon My Country E-Beat Tell Me The Truth One country Forgotten Years Truganini Dazed And Confused Cemetery Haulaway Read About It Blue Sky Mine Don't Wanna Be The One The Dead Heart Free My Soul Beds Are Burning Know Your Product
7th December: Haulaway Power And The Passion Back On The Borderline Warakurna What Goes On Surf's Up Tonight My Country E-Beat Tell Me The Truth One Country Forgotten Years Truganini Free My Soul Cemetery US Forces The Dead Heart Blue Sky Mining Don't Wanna Be The One Blot Beds Are Burning Know Your Product

now if ONLY the same thing would show up from the earth&sun&moon&stars period. i actually saw them for the first time on that tour...'gobsmacked' i think is the expression...

Well here we are and I want to start it again.....
Hope we are all OK?
Survived another busy Christmas period and am quite determined to do something else by the coming of the next one... Still want to buy my own place and am saving up for that. Going well so far. Next door neighbour has bought my place as an investment, he says I can stay there as long as I want. He even offered to sell the place to me if I was able to! Reason is that by buyin the place at least he has control over who lives next door to him- fortunately for me I am a good tenant. So things are looking up.
How about you lot?

Guess that means all is going well.....
Just dropped by to empty out my heart....guess Facebook's not the kind of place I want to do that.
My mother's cancer is back. Other lung this time and it appeared quite fast- the last check-up she had 3 months ago revealed nothing on the scans. Apparently (she didn't tell me this but I heard from my sister) she discovered lumps in her breast as well. As much as I want to believe I am afraid that this is not going to end up well. The hospital has done tests and tomorrow she'll get the results. Sweet Jesus, don't let me lose another parent so soon after I lost the first one.
