I don't think this poll was set up for anyone's amusement. I think strat was merely asking for help on this whole thing. He did what he felt he had to do, and I, along with others - many others, I might add, applaud him for taking charge and trying to protect these boards from unwelcome pesky behavior. There's been so much BS around here that only 21 of the members here have even voted. I don't blame the rest for not wanting to come in and vote for fear of being dragged into a big pot of bullshit, thus making a mockery of strat's attempt at fairness. I'm sure that makes him proud to have tried to keep RS alive and well... Now... to open another can of worms. I've no doubt that the new member called "KnightsAttorney" is not Knight, but someone here who registered as a second identity just to fuck with people - strat in particular, since he's the one that had to do the banning. Now... does that fall into the category of what isn't allowed as mentioned on the first post on the Welcome board? I wish whoever registered themselves (thinking it cute, I'm sure), would delete that identity and stop being a horse's ass. It seems like everyone should have learned some lessons throughout all this, but it is evidently not the case for some. After all, isn't that the same kind of thing that caused this whole thing? I'd like to know how many people think this is about Knight and his stupid prank instead of what it's truly about, which is not allowing trolls. Sad, sad, sad. Is there anyone who would like to try trade "jobs" with Strat right now? I doubt it. this madness needs to stop, you sound like a cop and we all sounds like a bunch of looney protestors. just let him back in, we can reconcile and we can all be civil to each other again. i was looking forward to meeting more folk from outwith the cliques i usually mix with, but this has turned into, as clubber said "us v them" and now we're divided into fucking camps like children. loyalties run strong around here, so we're obviously going to get pissed when one of our own is mistreated. |

There were many, many cliques at RS.com.
Personally I'm beginning to think that it was a mistake to invite every one of them to this board.
Of course, that said, who knows but that I would not have been invited?
Oh well, I would have dealt with it.
I find it amusing that so many people are up in arms because a friend of theirs got caught "breaking the rules" (jokingly or not).
Threatening to go on strike and leave this board...

It doesn't cost anything to set one of these ProBoards up for yourself, so why don't you just do that? Then you can have your beloved Knight back and not have to worry about how Strat-0 chooses to deal with situations like the one at hand (and he has handled this one quite appropriately, IMO).
If you've got nothing better to do than to complain about how the administrators operate these boards, ESPECIALLY when they are doing EXACTLY what they are supposed to do, then just fucking LEAVE.
I don't condone an "us vs them" mentality, I'm just fed up with this whole "awww, poor Knight, he was just-a-kiddin'" bullshit.
FWIW, I've seen him bomb the RS.com boards, too...I ain't sayin' he did it regularly, but regardless, it was a real annoyance when he did.
He may be a nice guy. I'm sure he's just swell, since he has garnered so much support from his buddies here.
But when I read the "terms of agreement" when first joining this community I did not see anything about how being popular would help you skirt your way around them. And one of the terms of agreement prohibited the kind of thing Knight did.
It didn't say "If people stand up for you, you may be given ONE MORE CHANCE if you disregard these terms of agreement".
If a bot were moderating these boards there would be no issue at hand: Knight would be history, PERIOD.
It kinda pisses me off to see the level of hostility aimed at strat-0 and KayJay for doing what they're supposed to do, so don't take this as a pro- or anti-Knight position. I could care less, actually, whether he stays or goes OR whether his cronies stay or go...
That said...apparently the guy's been given another chance. And apparently he's nowhere to be found.
So hey, that should be our cue to DROP the whole matter.

I think the problem is that this is a pro-Knight vs anti-Knight vote indeed. Personally I think that the problem lies in the wording- many people, including me believe that Knight's not the same type of troll that we all had to endure on the 'old' CE. I can vouch for the Pearl Jam-board being one of the very first targets of bombers and spammers and therefore I can 'see' the joke.
That's the best endorsement I can give. Many kudos BTW how you responded KayJay and Strat. Your intentions and actions were logical and I hope you'll still enjoy working with these boards.
And JAC & Bear, look, these guys aren't bad. I know it's tough to see otherwise if you haven't met them before but this is a good bunch of highly excited posters. I don't agree with some of the comments they made in regards to Strat but once the dust is settled, learn to know them and their fastpaced brand of humour. The fact that no-one seems to know them outside from a handful of regulars who have had too many subs on their diet and communicate with them on a more regular level has contributed to this all.
So take this as my reference to this mob...I don't endorse JAC's view at all that 'it was a mistake to invite every one of them to this board'...isn't the fun of boards to meet new people....occasionally?

i never once said a bad word about strato or kayjay. nor have i turned this into an "us vs. them" issue. i'm quite offended by some of the hostility and rude comments made regarding this. calling us his "croonies"..making comments about our "clique" and such. i think thats uncalled for. we are all here for the same reason you are..to talk about music, meet new people with the same interests as ourselves, and to have a good time.

Since I got such a reactionary post, I feel like the only way to respond is by reacting. Unfavorably to KayJay. But how would I know that's who I'm supposed to be reacting to? You know, since strat-0 was the person who originally edited her last post directed at me?
Didn't think I caught it? Well. I did.
I'm a pretty cool chick. There's probably three posters on RS that I reacted harshly to. One was louee, and she was a silly bint. One was Orb and she's a fucking unfunny asshole. And one was XtraSauce, and she was a cunt.
But I just got reemed because I defended my friend. And harshly. I was accused of being stupid, reactionary, and causing trouble. If you look at my post count, I have to question just how far over a line I went. Just how many inflammatory posts could I have possibly made?
If Knight can be banned for joking around, why does strat have the authority to edit other people's posts? Or to log in as other people who maybe didn't say what they wanted to say to me themselves? Hypocrisy. Goddamn cowardly.
Kath told me about you strat. Spoke quite highly in fact. I trust Kath's judgment, she's probably one of my favorite people I've ever had the pleasure of hanging out with in person. So I'll try to remember that after I leave here.
As for JACkory? You can go ahead and get fucked. I heard a rumor that you're an asshole. Ain't it funny how rumors tend to contain only part of the truth. You're really more of a sad fucking cunt.
The Advice Lounge is on strike. By JACkory's response, don't think many of you will care. It's a shame. There's a few of you not on the Advice Lounge that I know and won't get to see around. maarts, scottsy, jllm ya bastard...take care of yourselves.
