I'm pretty gutted we lost the Advice Lounge crew. I was looking forward to a bit more crossover in these smaller forums, and I have a couple of good mates who look like they won't be posting here anymore. I guess a few people (JACkory, for example) were so repeatedly hammered for so long by the genuine trolls on RS that they've got a bit jumpy on the whole issue.
Did we manage a week before the first major schism? Sheesh...
Thanks for the mention Trace. I hope to see you around, somewhere or other.

It's over and done, people. No one is banned.
I don't see where we've lost anyone yet - it shows 85 members, the highest total to date. People don't need to go off half-cocked, but that's their prerogative.
As for you, Someone, I have never and will never edit another's post, and I would never log in as someone else, even if I could (which I can't). There are many here who can vouch for my character on and off the boards. I was a poster at RS for five years.
I'm doing the best I can. Anybody who doesn't like it here is not compelled to stay. With a hostile attitude such as yours, don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out.
I guess the honeymoon is over.

I'm not really sure what to do with this whole thing. Way out of proportion all the way around imo. This was shaping up to be the 80-100 poster spot, made up of key people and cool groups. No matter the how's, why's, or who's it all amounts to a lot of my friends either not getting along or buggering off, which for me is really disheartening.  |

Well, does anyone realize what all this really means? Look at it: Life on the boards is chaotic and hell. We've got it all - bitching, whining, threatening, blaming, covering, flaming, arguing, rational and irrational reasoning... DAMN! RS.com's boards may have gone down, but by God, this is living proof that THE BOARDS ARE BACK (here)! Things are back to 'normal' - very similar to the old boards... minus the bombing! YAY!!!   (BTW - it's Sunday, May 23, 2004 and I just edited this post - I updated the graphic here because I had moved the location.) |

Pissin's the funniest guy on the boards. It's all insane and stupid. I just don't understand why the poll is called should trools and spammers be banned when there are no trolls or spammers. Its Knight, his name is John. like 6 people from the board met the guy last year.

This poll, most of this whole ordeal, had very little to do with Knight. Once Strat-O heard all of you come forward and vouch for the guy, he immediately agreed to de-ban him. Strat's actions, this poll, and the whole hullabaloo were against spammers, bombers and trolls in general,, not against Knight personally. We're dealing with the macro issue, and your group is taking it micro-personally. Some of you I don't know, but the ones that I do remember (Clubber, someone, etc.) are all pretty good people. Again, many of you guys were in fantasy football with us last year. I think it's admirable the way you guys stood up for your friend, but I think it's unfair for you to criticize Strat-o for his actions, or to stomp off and leave like spoiled brats. I asked directly, yet haven't heard anyone offer any specific criticism, or any ideas as to how it could have been handled better. Just immature pouting. I know, I know, let it drop. Just wanted to say I hope you guys stay around. |

I've only just caught up on all these posts - and I realise I'm too late on the matter (though I did vouch for Knight elsewhere) - but I still want to make a little itty bitty comment.
1) Strat - thankyou for setting this up - I don't think there's a single person who doesn't appreciate it.
2) I am one of the advice loungers - one who crossed over to the coffee shop - although I did post at the coffee shop way back before I'd even heard of the advice lounge. I love those guys - they're all fantastic, and I'm honoured to be included in Clubber's line up of people who would stand behind Knight. I do indeed.
3) Some of the posts I've read here saddened me - and from people who I thought better of. Zero tolerance? I don't like that term. I'll abide by rules, and I agree that Knight's prank was stupid to be made on a board where people don't know him.
4) Knight was NOT the bomber. Due to my time zone - I was often around when the html bombs hit - and ...
Knight never was.
Yes, he tried it once - as did several regular posters when they realised it was done. That was an isolated incident. To tar him with the same brush as the bombers is plain wrong.
4) I'm not leaving - I get on with everyone - but I hope this will not reoccur. I also hope that everyone will lighten up a bit now the dust has settled. It's just a shame that it took a mass exodus for that to happen. As Jllm said, this place is all the worse for the loss of the advice lounge crew.
Ok... that wasn't so small - and more than a little overblown. But I wanted to say my piece.

I didnt know Knight was a troll to start with. Im blind to such things and just saw him for the fun to talk to guy he was. Not that my opinion matters.  |
