In regard to the accusations made of me on the Roe vs Wade thread: One thing I've learned about trying to get people to really think creatively and open-minded on a subject matter is that they must be challenged to do so. Some times this means asking provacative questions that will make them ponder possibilities that they otherwise wouldnt think of, or other times it might mean stirring their passions in such a way that they go to great lengths to research the subject matter at hand if for no other reason than to prove me wrong. And sometimes it means taking things slow, and letting the ideas sink in over a day or two or even a week or two. Usually that's how most epiphanies happen. Once you digest the material, the real "ah-ha" moment might not come until you've let it osmosisize around in head for a while and then suddenly in the middle of your shower or while sitting on a bus and staring out a window...it occurs to you. Whatever the case, I'm not trolling--I'm trying to elevate everyone's game here.

You're not trying to get anyone to be open minded, you're trying to get them to agree with your views. It's not exactly the same thing. You're incredibly closed-minded yourself, and you get off on stringing people along for long periods of time without saying anything. That's troll like. If you want to stop being accused of being a troll, then stop acting like one.

besides, no one is accusing you of being a troll, pauledwardwagemann. We are merely pointing out that your methodologies herein have certain troll -like tendencies.
Why ever would we do this?
We do this in your best interest, of course. We like the prospect of new blood on the boards, and we like to be challenged.
But get real for a second:
*If we were accusing you of actually being a troll, your ass would be grass by now*

I gotta be honest dude, I think you're overestimating your game. What's wrong with aiming high?

Aiming high? Nothing. You're not aiming high though, you're talking down to us. There's some pretty damned smart people around here and for several days you've treated a couple of them like they're in middle school. You want to have a discussion? Fine let's have a discussion but first you've got to drop this act that hold some grand secret. Most of us would happy to discuss the nature of the soul for days or weeks or whatever if you were up for a discussion but you're not. You're not up for discussion becuase you've already decided you're word is more important then anything we have to say. The way you keep trying to "cleverly" twist our words into a classic gotcha moment, instead trying to use them in your dicussion...the problem is that you look kinda silly and just come off as being annoying. You seem pretty cool on the music boards, I'm just being honest here.

Gotta agree with Mantis (always prudent to agree with a giant talking carniverous insect, innit?). PEW, you've got some interesting stuff to say about music, but you're not exactly winning friends and influencing people on CE.
BTW, what is your academic background? Not saying that degrees or majors are indicative of what you can bring to the discussion, but it might help us better understand you if we knew a bit more about your, erm, credentials.

I'm sorry -- there's just something that really makes me giggle about a guy trying to defend troll-like behavior by opening up a thread for the topic of discussion to be HIM. It's such a joke, I won't paticipate other than to point out the level of ego that such a move takes.

It was funny when Melon did it too...

PEW actually reminds me a bit of Melon. They're both pretty cool for talking about music, but they both should just stay out of CE.
Hey PEW, what's your take on gay marriage?
There, that should open up a different can of worms. ;D
