www.oasis-stores.com/springcatwalk/It's black. But it's so purddy. Can't link to the image I'm afraid. Gay website. >>edit - bah - it doesn't take you to the right page. Basically, dress was black, above the knee, floaty, strapless, and had a bow detail. Can't describe to do it justice, but I WANT THAT DRESS! Dots are fashionable right now (here anyway), and I think the red dresses that are around are really pretty. Expecially when teamed with the right accessories - white waist cincher belt etc. Have to be real careful you don't cross the boundary into 50s housewife territory though. Or a simple white halter? From those casual photos the other day it seems that you can pull off white really well (not everyone can). So something a little like this? Flattering, and perfect to emphasise sexy curves - think Scarlet Johanssen.

Or speaking of Ms Johansson - something like this? That would have the old man and his mates drooling.

But I'd love to find something like that in another colour. Hmmmm. I'd love to find something red - I rarely wear it, but when I do everyone tells me what a great colour it is on me. I guess it's the dark hair/pale skin combination, I don't know. Not sure I could pull off that gold dress for a wedding... but I kinda want to buy it anyway. Just to wear around the house, out to the grocery store, that kind of thing. Thanks for your help, ms. Dolly. I knew you'd have some good advice.

(oooh, and I just found that black dress you were talking about... so cute.)
I am apparently a total girly-girl this morning.

I think you should get something which is either quite pretty and straight - channel a Stepford Wife with a naughty side
(not in terms of you, just the dress - don't want Mary thinking I'm now married and submissive lol)

I recently purchased a fine speciman of a dress which is black but with some random white fern things all over it. Sounds horrible looks fooking gorgeous.
It is such a pretty style but such an edgy pattern that it really hits the mark. i.e. impress workmates with lack of sluttiness and masses of style

My other dress is red (scary i know) with a little narrow belt bow however the style is simplistic to the max i.e. shift dress, no frills. Spots (which i know are a bit trendy) but they offset the plainness of the shift and are playful and fun. The style is conservative but the pattern is fun
Do you see my point

the black and white dress (i will shut up in a minute) features a keyhole neck at the front (bit of skin and hint of cleaveage but leaves to imagination) and is knee length but floaty-ish. It has capped sleeves too which limits manic arm-waving dancing (always good) but which does lead to excessive leg-lead dance moves (not good when knock full pint glass of beer with knees in the air action)

anywho tunesy, i wish i could post pics but im crap and i have to get to the pub. I wish I could help more but my best piece of advice (from recent dress-buying experience) would be:
Try it on.
Don't try to cut corners and only try on what you THINK will look good. Take an extra hour and try ona few dresses that you like but are not sure about.
I saw myself in one and channelled a 1970s airhostess or Scarface's girlfriend going out to a glamorous dinner - I think taking oneself to a different era or personality through a dress is dead fun!

You ladies are brilliant, as I knew you would be! My problem (I guess) is that I wear entirely too much black. It's the first colour I'm attracted to in a store, and I always end up with lovely fancy black dresses. So even black with some other colour would be a nice departure for me (your black dress sounds v. cool, angel.) And I promise that I will try on loads of dresses even if I'm not sure about them... as opposed to getting in a huff about not seeing anything I like and just leaving, as per usual. So yes, looking for something stylish but not slutty... I'm on a mission. I will spend my day tomorrow trying on eight thousand dresses. Steve is oh-so-thrilled.

Tunes just set out shopping for a black dress. I never end up finding what I'm looking for, but always find something entirely different that will work. So if you try to find what you don't want, you'll get what you really want.

So if you try to find what you don't want, you'll get what you really want. True enough. Though with my luck, I'll find nothing at all and end up going in those hideous white jeans Phil posted. Now I just have to hit up Riley for his best advice on guy's suits.

Lordy! I never even thought about the white no-no thing, Tunes. Of course!!!! But yeah, gorgous shape - and there's a lot of that type around right now. Started off with that Mourier Galaxy dress that everyone was wearing, and ran... Yeah - red. Ladies with the green eyes and dark hair look good in red. I've been wearing more lately (generally tops) and I never realised it suited me. So yeah, with your colouring Tunes, and with the fact that it is high fashion right now, I think that would be a good choice. Maybe you could find something similar to that gorgeous black dress in red? If you're wearing floaty though, then keep the accompanying bag delicate (not boxy or oversized), or it will ruin the balance. A clutch or a small drawstring type like would go. Oh - you're welcome btw Not much of a guru, in fact most of my purchases are not thought out at all. If I'm shoppping and I see something that's interesting I'll try it and buy if it looks good. I can't be bothered trawling all of the shops usually. But yeah - try stuff on even if you think it doesn't look like "you" or isn't what you're looking for. Half of my clothes are things that didn't look so good on the hanger but tried on for a lark anyway. Anyway - whatever you choose - we want pictures!!
