BTW, isn't it kind of ironic that you're using a Narcotics ANONYMOUS logo for an avatar?

Eh, I find it (the avatar) enlightening for reasons of my own.
And by all means JAC...let's hear the "Secret Gospel According To Jac."
So, can you entertain the thought that there once at one time, was the "Gospel According To Mark" that was supposed to be included in the good book? The way I "see" it is that this Gospel was to have been added to the finished product I.E. The Bible.
Apparently, someone who thought himself wiser than The Creator, perhaps guided by The Opponent itself, deliberately destroyed this "Gospel" out of unresolved sexual feelings of his or her own? To prevent the "real" truth about Jesus Christ's sensual peccadillos from being known? Out of fear perhaps?
What do you think?

Hey! That makes a great synopsis for a book.

There is a Gospel of Mark in the Bible. There are all sorts of conspiracy theories on why some writings were left out of the bible. But to be honest, those conspiracies belong on a different board.

What did I learn???
There's a lot of stuff that I learned, obviously, but what really interests me the most is how I had some ridiculous notions in my head.
Firstly, I never realized that Jesus spoke with such authority. I always seen him as a soft-spoken man. I liked reading how he was basically saying to people "turn away from your wicked ways or else you're going to hell." Which is basically what I believed in the first place.
I don't know if anyone else sees it this way, but I see a lot of defiance in the face of evil and hypocrisy in Jesus Christ. Telling his followers to be defiant, and always go to the side of good even when misdeeds are pressed upon them.
I also liked how Jesus was basically saying that it isn't just enough to follow him, you have to have the faith. Does that make sense? I kinda knew this already, but it was nice to hear it come out of the lion's mouth. It always seemed to be a bunch of lip-service to me before, but now, it's kind of like that those who are meant to "get it" will "get it" and those who pretend to "get it," well, the Lord can see inside of their wicked hearts.
"19 When anyone hears the message about the kingdom and does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away what was sown in his heart. This is the seed sown along the path. 20 The one who received the seed that fell on rocky places is the man who hears the word and at once receives it with joy. 21 But since he has no root, he lasts only a short time. When trouble or persecution comes because of the word, he quickly falls away. 22 The one who received the seed that fell among the thorns is the man who hears the word, but the worries of this life and the deceitfulness of wealth choke it, making it unfruitful. 23 But the one who received the seed that fell on good soil is the man who hears the word and understands it. He produces a crop, yielding a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown."
That's probably my favorite part.
Yeah, I gotta get ready for work... I think that's a good summation of what I learned.

Oh yeah, and I know this might sound stupid.
Jesus Christ is a rebel. Rebelling against the wicked ways of this world.

Matt, I cannot begin to tell you how happy it makes me to read what you've written! As I know I and others have expressed, it gets very frustrating as a follower of Christ to see Him hijacked and transformed into what is in essence John Lennon of biblical times. It makes me very happy to know that you've gotten so much ouf of the reading you've done.
There are a lot of people who want to talk and talk about the subject of Christianity without bothering to learn about it. I've got a lot of respect for you for being willing to learn about it too!

I meant the "Secret Gospel Of Mark" which (blatantly to some, yourself obviously Chris) alludes to J.C.'s sexuality.

DIdn't say there wasn't any merit. I said it didn't belong here. And since this is my board an all, I can say that. If you don't like it, there are plenty of other boards around here for you to babble.

100% echo Chrisfan's sentiments, Matt. Jesus Christ IS a rebel! For real!
Patlogi, there's nothing new about "secret gospels". Most, if not all of them are the work of gnostic heretics and were flat out rejected not only by the early Church fathers but are alluded to (and condemned) by no less an authority than the apostle Peter. There are REASONS why they weren't included in the Bible and if you're really interested I'm sure you could track down a Catholic priest (who should have significant knowledge of the writings of the early Church fathers) and he will be glad to sit down with you and explain it. Not only am I aware of "secret gospels", I have a book entitled The Secret Teachings of Jesus, which is a compilation of 4 such writings. It's total, utter hogwash. But hey...I suppose if you've found a passage in one of 'em that says "it's okay to be gay" then you'll be naturally inclined to take it as inspired scripture. To each his own, I suppose, but don't try and sell it to me, cuz I know it's defects.
PS...I am no longer attempting to persuade gay people that homosexuality is a sin by citing Bible passages. I'm no better and no worse and furthermore I assume that folks are literate and can read the Bible for themselves and draw their own conclusions. Do that, but for God's sake I don't care a whit about gnostic gospels and you'll have to look long and hard to find a professing Christian who takes what's written in them seriously.

Yeah, I'm a bit embarassed about how I had portrayed Jesus Christ in my earlier postings, because it was always my impression from what I had been told that he was basically what you said, the John Lennon of biblical times. In a way, he's still saying love your brother and the such, but at the end of the day, he's also telling people to turn away from wickedness, and I think the whole love your neighbor stuff is a part of that.
As much as I have said how much I respected my old notion of Jesus Christ, I respect the REAL version far more. Can't say I know all that much, but it was really nice hearing what I've spoken about. Someone who's flying in the face of all the bullshit in this world. Sure, it happened over 2000 years ago, but it's kind of funny looking around and seeing how much the message still applies.
It's almost funny how everything keeps coming full circle. I've been railing against so much for years, including what I thought Christianity is, and here I am finding the same message in what I read. I'm not Christ, I'm not perfect, but it's nice to know that much of what I believe in Jesus spoke of. It is the fucking truth, and I firmly believe that anyone who truly follows the word will reap their rewards.
I've had my sword for a long time, and one of my fights was against the wrong team. And for that, more than anything, I truly repent.
