my wife grew up with dogs...all sorts of dogs.
hates poodles though.
me, i'm allergic (so's my mom and my sister) so we had birds, fish, turtles....and maybe a few alley cats that we just fed and played with outside in the backyard.
we really like(d) both dogs and cats, we just couldn't live with them, at least not inside.
now we've got a 3 and a ½ year old and don't know if a sister (or brother) is ever going to come...so we're thinkin' doggies.
i found out the difference between fur (from which the dander provokes allergies) and HAIR which supposedly doesn't.
2 breeds with hair: -poodles -water spaniels
....and the last dog my wife's family ever had was an english springer spaniel. like the world's greatest smartest springer spaniel.
which i'm hoping is also considered a 'water spaniel'.
don't know yet however...but we actually went to a purebred springer spaniel 'enthusaists' show here, at some converted warehouse in the suburbs. interestingly no sneezing or eye symptoms til they started bringing in some other breeds into the building.
so i dunno.
of course now they're interbreeding poodles specifically for their hypo-allergenic-ness...with labs (labradoodle), pekingese (peke-a-poo) and probably a shitload of others...

My grandma had a poodle- one of those big fuckers. Took forever to groom her. Lived to be 12 years old- nice dog. Then back in the early 70s our family bought a little cocker spaniel pup- nicest animal you'd ever see. But my sister and I were growing up and our dog got jealous of all the kids playing in our house- when she started to snap at a few of our friends we decided to part with her. Wish I could have a dog here too, nut since I'm away from home for such long periods of the day it's not feasible.

My stepdad had a standard poodle when my mother married him. Dumbest dog EVER. I'm not sure if it's just large poodles in general or this one in particular. thorny - Thanks for the complimenties! Roommate just did a drawing from that picture I posted. Just cut my hair pretty crazy, but it was only two nights ago so haven't gotten any pictures. Prolly wait until I bleach/dye. Considering a very dark purple, it'll be really pretty and my boss lets me get away with anything. ;D

Ah, Robert had a camera-phone, so: I love it because my cowlick makes it crazy without any kind of gel or hair-crap. My roommate cut it! She is smart...

Speaking of hair, Eldest Son got some pictures from last year NYC school trip ... (Better late than never) when he still had his dreads !! He much more handsome with shorter hair !! Somehow, I don't think Einstein's supposed to be wearing a hat/sunglasses ... LoL!

That's what happens when you *paint NYC red* for a whole weekend!
The worst was Paris Hilton although I'm not sure there is that much difference between the wax mannequin and the *real* one !

2 breeds with hair: -poodles -water spaniels 3rd: Cairn terriers. My family has had 3 all told since I was about 12, specifically for allergy reasons. A really special breed that isn't for everyone, but if you're that someone, any day without one is wasted. youtube.com/results?search_query=cairn+terriers&search_type=The "Life of Gus" video was so much like my family's youngest one, Cody, in both color, size, temperament and location (owners are Pats fans), that I actually messaged him just to see where and when they got him in case they were brothers...
