I've only heard one song by Maroon 5. Sounded pretty abysmal to me...

What I want to know is why do they have to have the 5 in their name??!
Currently listening to "Beside Yourself" by the Church again... have I mentioned lately how much I love this band??!

hi everyone....finally got some new stuff today that I am listening to...one is a San Diego group that has some roots with Black Heart Procession, and they are called Pinback, and they are utterly fantastic..plus got the most recent by John Cale and Interpol.........the latter who I rather fancy.....plus got the newest Uncut with the good ol Clash on the front............

Ooh, I think I have a Pinback album that I bought several years ago. Nice little indie music. Think I'll give it a spin when I get home from work. I didn't know they had roots with Black Heart Procession.
Probably for the same reason as Ben Folds Five and Pizzicato Five.

ryo..listening again to Pinback this morning and the newest is utterly fantastic..I can't recommend it highly enough....you can check out some of the reviews on the web, and they also shed some insight on their background............also listening to the newest John Cale-Hobosapiens...i can now see why some critics are counting it amongst their fave Cale release.............it definitely rivals Fear and Honi Soit (my two faves)

Finally heard some Interpol today. Not really my cup of tea although the music is pretty good. Just not much on the vocals. The Bright Lights one, that is. Never have been much for the Joy Division brand of vocals.
Been listening to:
The Soft Bulletin - Flaming Lips
After the Gold Rush - Neil Young
NP: Cowboy Junkies - Best of(song: Sun Comes Up, It's Tuesday Morning)

Love the Cowboy Junkies...I feel like playing Misguided Angel right now...
Got some good news through the mail today- a couple of re-issues by the Gun Club- notably The Las Vegas Story and Miami! Sometimes I wish Nick Cave had a bit more of Ramblin' Jeffrey Lee Pierce in him....
....and speaking of La Cave- who has heard Abattoir Blues?

I don't have the actual CD anymore but I'm sure it used to be yellow. Anyway, a real goth nostalgia trip. Christian Death at their best - e.g with Rozz.

I heard Nick Cave's "Nature Boy" for the first time the other evening. Not "The Mercy Seat" or anything but I kinda liked it. Of course I thought Nocturama's first single was OK, too, when I first heard it, so I don't know if that's some kind of omen...

Ouch - you gotta wonder what's up with Nick when "kinda liked it" is actually a positive thing!! When is this damn album coming out anyway?? er, so, in the spirit of this board, here is some of the stuff i've been listening to lately.... can't load in the album covers cause I'm at home and my modem connection is miserably slow, but, in the old-fashioned listing fashion: guns n' roses - appetite for destruction joni mitchell - blue mazzy star - so tonight that i might see interpol - antics angelo badalamenti - soundtrack from twin peaks sleater-kinney - dig me out danzig - danzig I patsy cline - classic um, that's about as far back as i can remember. Cheers, M

Mary,
I have no idea why, but I wouldn't have thought in a trillion years that you would listen to Mazzy Star. Anyway, STTIMS is one of my top 50 of all time.
