I have to admit I'm a little fuzzy on who wrote what, unless it's pretty obvious. The 'Lennon/McCartney' byline also helps to confuse whom did what for me.

I'm gonna guess it was John ... just b/c he seemed to pen more stuff prior to Rubber Soul. Of course, early on they really did write together, it wasn't until very late '64 and into '65 that you could really peg songs as being "John" or "Paul" rather than "Lennon/McCartney." Unless they were really all ghost written by Ringo!

According to the book Beatlesongs, an extremely interesting read if you haven't checked it out...it goes album by album and using interviews tries to establish who wrote what...
Lennon- 84.55 McCartney- 73.65 Harrison- 22.15 Starr- 2.7

The gap is that Lennon wrote about 2/3 of A Hard Day's Night by himself.

Ringo's two songs aren't bad ... Don't Pass Me Buy & Octopuses Garden. And look at his performances on other cuts ... With a Little Help From My Friends is one of the high points of Sgt. Pepper; Yellow Submarine is a classic; his vocals on Boys are absolutely hysterical (who better to cover a US girl-group hit?); and his countryish turns (i.e. Honey Don't) are at worst credible. And he recorded at least a handful of classic cuts after the group's demise: Photograph is good enough to be a grade-A Beatles tune; Sixteen is a great cover; and I'm the Greatest stands as one of Lennon's finest post-Beatles moments.
In other words: RINGO ROCKS!

He also gets- .25 on Dig It .2 of What Goes On (help on the "middle eight" though in Beatles lingo the middle eight is pretty much anything that's not the chorus or the verse) & .25 on Flying
