My vote goes to Physical Graffiti. If the original Rolling Stone Project is any indicator of how this will turn out, Houses of the Holy will win.

I think Led Zeppelin II, by far. Houses of The Holy has D'yer Maker in it, and I think that song is a fucking travesty.
III is also fantastic.

Gosh, this was SO easy. IV, people, IV!
"D'yer M'aker" may well be a "travesty" (though I don't think so...just a spat of harmless fun), but House of the Holy is more than redeemed by the awesome "Song Remains The Same", "Rain Song", "The Ocean" and the incredible "No Quarter".
Physical Grafitti is the most over-rated and lask-lustre album of their career, IMO. II has some good songs, but I really don't know how anyone can deny the absolute superiority of IV.
Oh, well. I am getting old.

I am gonna say something right now that might irk the average Zeppelin fan.
Stairway to Heaven is ridiculously overblown, and not that good to boot.
Thank you.

I voted for "II". Even though "IV" is a more diverse record, and contains probably their most remarkable songs, "II" has some of the best hard-rock guitar riffs ever put to tape. They set the bar for every other hard-rock/metal band that followed, and they set it extremely high with that one.
Having said that, everything from Physical Graffiti onward sucked. They had the odd classic song here and there, but as far as whole albums go, "Houses Of The Holy" was their final masterpiece.
Here's my top 5:
5. Houses Of The Holy 4. I 3. III 2. IV 1. II

btw, I too agree that "D'yer M'aker" blows, but almost everything else on that disc more than makes up for it. If that crappy excuse for a song and the mediocre "The Crunge" weren't on the album, it would be my 4th favourite Zep disc.

I am gonna say something right now that might irk the average Zeppelin fan. Stairway to Heaven is ridiculously overblown, and not that good to boot. Thank you. IV rules even without that over-played track. You just can't beat "Ballad of Evermore", "When the Levee Breaks", "Going to California", "Four Sticks" (AWESOME drumming by Bonzo) and "Black Dog". That leaves "Misty Mountain Hop" (decent song, but I saw Heart cover it and that kinda soured me on it), "Rock and Roll" (which certainly rocks and rolls, but a bit too conventional from what I liked about Zeppelin) and the afore-mentioned "Stairway to Heaven", which suffers much more from it's reputation and over-exposure than the actual song itself, an inventive and entertaining ditty...I don't find it "overblown" in the least, but then I like prog rock and it is much more prog than their typical blues-based vehicles.

Why can't I vote for Coda? It was their last album, and hence their best IMHO.

i voted for Zep I, which remains the best and rawest thing they ever committed to reel. It's pretty spectacular blues, with touches of doom metal ("Dazed and Confused") and awesome rockouts ("How Many More Times") and near punk conciseness ("Communication Breakdown" or "Good Times Bad Times")
i hate the bullshit that came after it, and Zep II is one of the worst things i ever heard. The absolute worst thing i've ever heard would be Presence.

I voted for II, though it and I are pretty equal. HOTH would be right there if it weren't for Dy'er Maker...I really hate that song. III is also really good. PG is too long. IV is really over rated.
1. II 2. I 3. HOTH 4. PG 5. IV 6. Coda 7. Presence 8. In Through The Out Door

What kind of board is this? Really? ALL of Led Zeppelin's albums are good for different reasons. EVEN CODA!
I voted for III. Least fav--Physical Graffitti. I can discuss this all day. All the albums are solid.
How is Led Zeppelin IV overrated? Whoever says that has not really listened to it for the music contained within. What you mean to say is OVERPLAYED. That I can agree with. OVERPLAYED. Thats why people need to shut their radios off.
Led Zeppelin I & II (what should be known as the one/two punch) are fantastic examples on how albums should be recorded and sequenced. The solo on "You Shook Me" makes me pray that I will live another day to hear it again. I hear some electronic treatments too-on "Dazed and Confused" and "How Many More Times." Led Zeppelin II -- wait. I dont even need to type anything.
I cant even answer the question. But Im gonna vote for Zeppelin III. Side two is awesome.
Im a pretty hardcore Zeppelin fan. Embarrassingly enough I rode on two empty tires on my bike when I was 14 (1988?) cos my Physical Graffitti came in special order (on cassette!) at my small town record store. All that lawn mowing paid off! I cant answer this question in musical merit terms --cos I appreciate them all.
