Depends on what you mean by 'good'. If by 'good', you mean wading through pages of a reformed, health-conscious Kiedis detailing his oxygen shots & how his body is now his temple etc - then, yes, its good.
Or if by 'good', you mean that want numerous pics of Kiedis looking hot, often shirtless, with one titty pic of Ione Skye added in to the mix - then, yes, its good.
Or, if by 'good', you mean graphic descriptions of inserting inanimate objects into people & being a general fuckup - you are best to consult other rock star bios. Especially ones on Courtney Love.
all jokes aside, its a good read. Theres a nice mix of personal & band history & Kiedis won more of my respect because he seems to be a highly skilled & patient lover.

I liked the book too, although doesn't he lose some points for dating a 16 year old when he was in his mid-20s? It's a little weird.
There's some great stories in there though. And the style of writing makes it seem as though he actually did most of the writing himself, and didn't just have the whole thing written up by the co-writer.

Plus, theres like all these shirtless Kiedis photos. Don't be all like "oh, I read the book for the articles", Rocky.
Its an easy read & doesn't leave you feeling dirty like the Motley Crue book. I'm still a little frightened after The Dirt implied that at some point, Mick Mars had sex with a woman.

However, I'm starting to wonder if I should've asked how its quality compares to The Dirt by Motley Crue cause.......holy shit, nothing has topped that for me. Fucking hilarious. I was flipping through the pages of a paperback copy Tuesday and saw the Ione Sky nude pic. Excellent. I had a crush on her after I saw "Say Anything" back in the day.

Its an easier read than The Dirt. Good lord, the Mick Mars & Vince Neil parts drove me to madness & back again. And the Tommy parts were identical to Tommyland, except that was part-narrated by his penis.
If they'd edited out all the non-Nikki Sixx parts of The Dirt, it would've been more enjoyable.

What other rock-star bios are that insane? I saw a copy of this oral history of Jane's Addiction recently as well ("Whores" I think its called). Any thoughts on this? Right now, I'm reading a Presley bio (Last Train to Memphis) but I bet its not that crazy. The follow up to it covers the last 2 decades of his life so maybe it delivers on that front.

There's some pretty crazy stuff in that Kiedis book, but most of it is actually pre-RHCP other than the crazy heroin binges.
That dude had a crazy childhood, doing drugs with his dad and hanging out at L.A. clubs with Zeppelin and the Who and stuff, just following his partier dad around. And the first time he had sex was at 14 with his dad's girlfriend. And Sonny Bono was his babysitter for a while. Really friggin' weird childhood.
I think there's also something in there about diving into swimming pools from the roofs of apartment buildings and breaking his back. That's pretty nuts.

There are also some tender moments where Kiedis all but professes his homo love for Frusciante. And I think there are exactly 6 mentions of Chad Smith. Poor forgotten drummers.

Hillel's death is dealt with nicely, though.

I think that Keidis just was never as close to Chad Smith as he has been with Flea forever and has been with Frusciante since he re-joined the band. I don't think he's snubbing Chad, he just doesn't really have many stories to tell about him. Jack Irons isn't in there all that much either.

I suppose this is the interview you guys are talking about... www.youtube.com/watch?v=_AI-Eu_9Srw&search=frusciante%20interviewMan, that was horrible. You're right, had I seen this I wouldn't have thought he'd return to the band either. Looks like it was just before his teeth dropped out too, since they look pretty bad. I then watched another recent video of him talking about Stadium Arcadium and you'd swear it wasn't the same person.

We had Frusciante show up at Emos in 95 or 96 to do a couple of songs from the really scary "Smile From The Streets You Hold" album and he was in terrible shape. He mumbled and chain smoked constantly and when he sang it was more of pained scream and he had about three teeth in his mouth at the time as well. I was heartbroken when I saw it actually, because BSSM was probably the whole reason why I picked up a guitar again. I actually started out on guitar at a very early age (5) along with piano, but when about 7 it was the drums and that was all over until I was about 14 when that record came out. Frusciante is probably the guitar player with the most soul and I ADORED his first solo record. After seeing him though I was seriously convinced the guy was going to be dead in 4 days time and I would forever have to hear the Peppers with Dave Bizarro.
It's a miracle the guy is doing so well.
I hate Neil Young, by the way.
