You know what I love about the new RHCP album? The fact that Muse probably have a new album coming out later this year. Muse? If you want to listen to a shitty version of Radiohead just give Amnesiac a spin.

Luke's Best Red Hot Chili Peppers Album Thread Rules
1. No implying that Mellon Collie would make a better single disc. Nonsense!
2. No calling Muse a shitty Radiohead copycat.
3. No snide remarks at Luke's second favorite band ever (RHCP) for the sake of Lukes second favorite band out today (Muse).**
*If anything, they're trying harder to make Siamese Dream with Thom Yorke on vocals, but Corgan, for the most part, still writing the lyrics.
**But it's okay to debate the merits of John vs. Bellamy. In fact, a thread detailing such a debate would probably be the only reason I can fathom that Melon should come back here.

I didn't imply that Mellon Collie would make a better single disc - I was actually quite explicit about it.
Muse may be considered a lesser Radiohead, but they're far more consistent & rarely reach the same levels of dickhead. You can listen to Muse for more than one hour without wanting to murder the person in the room next to you.
And Muse are better live. Waaaaay better.

Muse shit all over Radiohead live. They shit all over them & then theres still enough shit left over to fling at Radiohead's support act. Which isn't even necessary, because Muse's support act are probably better than Radiohead's support & have already flung their own shit at them, with enough left over for Radiohead's roadies.

Theres nothing ground-breaking here, whatsoever. Its kinda like a novice guide to the Chili Peppers sound for people who already have the greatest hits but don't know anything else about them. I don't see anything wrong with them sounding like they normally do. That's kind of an unfair criticism. Pearl Jam recently released an album that was praised as being a "return to form" [ie, sounding like their old selves once again]. Maybe the Peppers should follow their example and also release a couple of shit albums and then come back with another Peppers-by-numbers disc like Stadium Arcadium so that everyone can appreciate them for what they are once again. A fucking brilliant band and one of the finest America has to offer...

I've seen Radiohead live and indeed, they weren't all that good. They didn't do "Creep" either. That pisses me off. That bloody song put you on the map you bastards and the people want to hear it. People paid to see you and they should get what they want. I hate it when bands do that...

Hey, woah. I love the Chili Peppers. I camped out for tickets when I was in high school & I'm the only person I know who actually listens to One Hot Minute - I wouldn't subject them to any criticism which is unfair. I know a lot about this band.
I'm glad you brought up PJ actually. I had higher expectations for SA than I did for Avocado simply because I think Californication & By The Way have some of the Peppers' most exceptional songs & (particularly with BTW), showcase the best lyrics Kiedis has ever written. Riot Act wasn't all that great, so yeah, Avocado blew me away in that regard, b/c PJ needed a solid return to form. I like that SA encompasses every sound we've ever heard from the Chili Peppers, but its a little bloated in places & frankly, if you're going to release a double album, you should be attempting to have it be your absolute very best (ahem, take note, Dave Grohl). Californication & BTW were giving us different sounds, but SA is a mish-mash of everything. After one week of listening I can confidently say it isn't their best album. Or their second best either. I like it very much, because I've heard all these songs before, in various forms, over every single RHCP album. There isn't one song on SA that made me go "wow...this is new", like how I did with both Mezmerize & Hypnotize (excellent example of a worthy double album).
/end my 2 cents

People paid to see you and they should get what they want. I hate it when bands do that... The last time PJ toured Australia, a disgruntled fan was bitchng at the bar about how they didn't play Jeremy, Alive or Daughter. I was like "but dude, those songs aren't even that good. Alive is shit. I hate that song". Then he thought about it & was like "yeah, I don't even like Daughter all that much". I dont' ever expect to hear Creep at a Radiohead gig. One day they'll pull it out to shock us & break the boners of the Kid A fans.

Pearl Jam not doing Alive is like the Stones not doing 'Jumping Jack Flash'. Jeremy and Daughter I can understand, but Alive? Nope, I'd be pissed too.

But dude, Alive is a really shitty song. So is Jumpin' Jack Flash, for that matter.

So, Layla, have you burnt yourself a single Stadium Arcadium disc yet? I'm still undecided about which tracks to put on it. I'll probably do it in a few days once I'm sure of my favourites. So far the definites are: 21st Century Storm In A Teacup Charlie She's Only 18 Make You Feel Better Readymade Desecration Smile Animal Bar Tell Me Baby Torture Me That leaves about 8 more tracks to consider. My Stadium Arcadium is gonna kick some ass! The main reason I'm gonna do this is for the car. I hate changing discs when driving. I also plan on leaving the ballads at home.

Imagine having to play your shittiest song over & over & over again, for years. No wonder Pj look so craggy now. I blame their disgraceful ageing on Alive.

I'd rather hear "Creep" at a Radiohead gig than any of those bleeps and noises they call songs on Kid A.

Thats actually a really good culling of the album, Kool. Mine would be quite similar - I'd like to throw in one or two of the ballads. Maybe one. So you prefer Mars at the mo, huh? Me too
