Great post, Weeping.
My brother once told me that he heard somewhere, perhaps from reading the magazine itself, that Rolling Stone Mag considered YHF to be the greatest rock album to come out since Nevermind.

Hell no! YHF a touchstone for the nought-decade? It's a generic rock record that by all judgement not is considered to be the peak of Wilco's career and in its genre has so many competitors. The media hailed YHF as a good album for the most part but certainly not as a masterpiece. The only correct assessment is that there are more people here enjoying this album than the next, hence the win. I wouldn't puzzle over it too much. It's a record made by Americans, for Americans, slap bang in the middle of middle-of-the-road Americana. In other words, a Rolling Stone magazine favourite. This is strictly a local vote. Collate non-US votes and then have a look at the bigger picture and reassure yourself.

Here's the proof - look at the list of non-US participants and the position of YHF:
maarts - not listed JLLM - not listed Dr. Drum - not listed dolly - #13 R.i.t. - not listed Rileydog - not listed
A sympathy vote from Ms Beadz.

Hey Jesus -- if you and the "rest of the world" want to submit late ballots, I'll figure out a way to get 'em scored. I've got no problem with even opening this poll back up completely.
But I bet YHF still winds up on top, unless you Radiohead nuts realize that Hail to the Thief kicks the shit out of everything else they've done this decade. If Radiohead fans agreed on one record, they'd have won this easily. They didn't, so they lost. I think that's gonna hold up if we have a rematch.
So if anyone wants to submit a new or revised list, go ahead! But more importantly, be sure to vote in the ongoing "Greatest American Rocker" poll, so I can wrap that up and get to the all important "Greatest Commonwealth/British Isles Rocker" (which will be open to performers from anywhere in the Commonwealth, with the exception of Canada, the 51st state!).

No, don't be silly. I guess us non-Americans will just have to learn that we're in a minority here and since these ballots all work on majority-principles, it is simple that these lists do reflect the majority's decision. Which doesn't boil down to Americans vs ROTW necessarily as Wilco-lovers can be found anywhere else outside their own home-territory and quite a few fans of YHF just happen to congregate here.
