Nevermind is a bunch better than Appetite No it isn't. No it isn't. No it isn't. I think that's a bit of stretch. Biggest? Probably. Best? Hell no. For one, Soundgarden's Badmotorfinger totally owns anything in the Nirvana ever put out. Only In Utero comes close. Oh, and everyone's right about Axl being a douche. Who doesn't know that? Even so, that doesn't change the fact that Appetite is a full-5 star album. It's as close to 'flawless' as a rock record can get.

Man, I'm not even gonna comment on what Holzman said about Pet Sounds.
Nevermind and In Utero are both fairly decent records, but Nevermind is more decent than In Utero. Though In Utero is fairly decent too. Oh wait I already said that.

(See also Zeppelin, Led, and Lee, Geddy, for further examples of singers who would be much better off if they'd just quit squeeling and sing naturally). Ken, are you saying Cobain 'sang naturally' and Robert Plant 'squeeled'? ;D

I've never heard Pet Sounds. When I think of the Beach Boys I just think of annoying songs about the beach and surfing. To be fair though, I've always loved that "Good Vibrations" song but I think that's about it.

Nevermind is decent, but In Utero is more decent. It's got more variety. Which is not to say Nevermind isn't really decent, for it is, but it's not the super-decent album it's made out to be. ;D The standouts are clearly the first 2 singles. "Come As You Are" especially, is brilliant. The rest just seems sorta same-y to me.

Nevermind is just about a decent as they come. If by decent you mean fucking great.

What's deeply flawed about Pet Sounds? How about the fact that it's so sugary that you can get cavities from repeated listening? Really? I found it to be quite a bittersweet album. Nothing really holly jolly about it.

What's the "40th Anniversary Edition" of Pet Sounds? Is it remastered or does it have extra tracks? I just snatched up the torrent.

It contains the mono and stereo versions of the album on one disc and a dvd that contains a documentary, a promo video for Good Vibrations and some other stuff I'm not aware of. I haven't bought it yet.

I always thought the difference between Nevermind and In Utero was more the difference between Butch Vig and Steve Albini. I suppose if I hadn't heard Nevermind multiple times every day for years, it'd still be my favorite Nirvana album, but I don't think I'll be able to sit through it again for at least another fifteen years. Other than Nevermind and OK Computer and Ænima, what else was there? Don't answer that. Won't answer, but I will correct. And maarts, I don't think anyone's questioning the "five star" part so much as the "most important" part.

C'mon, Undertow had a bigger impact then Aenima and even it wasn't anywhere near Nevermind or Ok Computer. Matter of fact Dirt had a bigger impact then any of the Tool albums, not saying anything's better or worse but looking in terms what happened after the album came you just can't put that one in there,
