1. Five Years - From the Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust & the Spiders From Mars Killer way to start an album Yeah it is. Now, are you going to put the next 24 in separate posts, too? I mean, I've heard of trying to run up post-counts, but this is ridiculous! ;D

Here is my review of Ken's list.
For one thing, I can't believe that you guys would take serious the man who has made such horrific statements against "Desire" and can't see the greatness in it. ;D
1. The Clash, “London Calling” – London Calling I'm okay with this one actually.
2. Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, “Thunder Road” – Born to Run I'm okay with this one as well, it's a great album.
3. The Who, “Baba O’Reilly” – Who’s Next Eh, this is so obvious to me, which is why I didn't pick it.
4. Bob Dylan, “Like a Rolling Stone” – Highway 61 Revisited Yeah, this is pretty good way to open an album for sure, despite Ken's sacriledge against "Desire".
5. David Bowie, “Station to Station” – Station to Station Disagree with this one vehemently. I love Bowie, but I think as an opener it's shit.
6. Nirvana, “Smells Like Teen Spirit” – Nevermind Another too obvious one for me and while it's great, I'm beginning to think in the 15 years since it's initial release, "Nevermind" has not aged well.
7. The Beatles, “I Saw Her Standing There” – Please Please Me The Beatles have never had good opening songs on their albums. They are good songs, but not what I consider great.
8. U2, “Where the Streets Have No Name” – The Joshua Tree Oh god how U2 sucks, let me count the ways........the first bloated track off of the most overrated piece of shit I have ever had to displeasure of listening to. Milk that Eno bassline boys, you've been doing it for over 2 decades now.
9. Midnight Oil, “Beds Are Burning” – Diesel and Dust I hate Midnight Oil. I said it. They suck, always have.
10. New Order, “Age of Consent” – Power, Corruption and Lies Now we're talking!!!!!!!
11. Peter Gabriel, “The Rythym of the Heat” – Peter Gabriel 4 (Security) Great song and I wish I had thought of this one myself.
12. The Replacements, “Hold My Life” – Tim Fuck Paul Westerberg.
13. Elvis Costello and the Attractions, “No Action” – This Year’s Model Good track, I can't complain on this one either.
14. Pearl Jam, “Life Wasted” – Pearl Jam I would pick "Ocean" over this as a lead off track or "Five Against One" before this one, but that's just me.
15. Counting Crows, “Round Here” – August and Everything After Eh.......I like these guys but I don't.....it is a decent lead off track though.
16. Pete Townshend, “Rough Boys” – Empty Glass Yeah, pretty cool.
17. Waterboys, “Church Not Made With Hands” – A Pagan Place I haven't heard this enough to really say.
18. Wilco, “Misunderstood” – Being There I wish I had thought of this one as well, but I still think "I am trying to break your heart" is just as good as it gets.
19. X, “The Hungry Wolf” – Under the Big Black Sun I don't know how I feel about this one........I love X and it's a great song so I am going to say thumbs up.
20. Don Henley, “The Boys of Summer” – Building the Perfect Beast Awesome song!
21. R.E.M., “Radio Free Europe” – Murmer Yep, this is when REM was amazing, I'm good with this one too.
22. The Jam, “All Mod Cons” – All Mod Cons Paul Weller is just pretty unbelievable and I would have rated this much higher on the list.
23. Gang of Four, “Ether” – Entertainment! Yeah, Okay......I can dig this one too.
24. Oasis, “Rock and Roll Star” – Definitely Maybe Yes, this should have rated much higher as well.
25. The Velvet Underground, “Candy Says” – The Velvet Underground No.....fuck Lou Reed and some "vapid girl says" dumb ass songtitles.

Thanks Skvor! Interesting thoughts on my selections. I know you wanna love U2, but you've got too much invested in hating them to change now.

The list: 1) Sonic Youth - "Teenage Riot" - Daydream Nation YES!!! I love this song and it really is just the best opener for me.
2) Mission of Burma - "That's When I Reach for My Revolver" - Signals, Calls and Marches Yes, I am all over this one as well. Super good.
3) Wilco - "Misunderstood" - Being There "I Am Trying To Break Your Heart" is much better to me, but this one is pretty good too.
4) The Pixies - "Debaser" - Doolittle Nope. While I love this song, "Bone Machine", "Trompe Le Monde" and "Caribou" are WAY better. 5) X - "The New World" - More Fun In the New World I love this song and this is one that I was thinking of over Ken's.
6) The Clash - "London Calling" - London Calling Yep.
7) The White Stripes - "Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground" - White Blood Cells Nope. I love the White Stripes, but I think "Seven Nation Army" stomps all over it's ass.
8) Nirvana - "Serve the Servents" - In Utero Yes!
9) John Cale - "Mercenaries (Ready for War)" - Sabotage/Live I would prefer the lead tracks from Paris 1919 or Vintage Violence
10) The Clash - "The Magnificent Seven" - Sandinista! Yeah, I may even like this one much better than "London Calling".
11) The Beatles - "Come Together" - Abbey Road Eh.......ok.
12) Iggy & the Stooges - "Search & Destroy" - Raw Power Have okay but nowhere near great opening songs and I feel this way about this one as well.
13) The Velvet Underground - "White Light/White Heat" - White Light/White Heat Yeah, it's good.
14) Radiohead - "Everything In It's Right Place" - Kid A I really like this as an opener myself.
15) Bob Dylan - "Like a Rolling Stone" - Highway 61 Revisited Yep
16) Thunderbirds Are Now! - "Better Safe Than Safari" - Justamustache I don't know.....I have no opinion.
17) The Modern Lovers - "Roadrunner" - The Modern Lovers This is good. 18) The White Stripes - "Jimmy the Exploder" - The White Stripes See above. 19) Jeff Buckley - "Mojo Pin" - Grace As much as I love this record, I sometimes rue the day it was ever released. I wouldn't have picked this myself.
20) Neko Case - "Things That Scare Me" - Blacklisted Yes!
21) Mission of Burma - "2wice" - The Obliterati Yep, might be my favorite song of the whole album.
22) The Stooges - "Down On the Street" - Funhouse See Above
23) Joy Division - "Atrocity Exhibition" - Closer I think this is a great song but a terrible opener for an album.
24) Elvis Costello - "Accidents Will Happen" - Armed Forces Yay!
25) David Bowie - "Five Years" - Ziggy Stardust Yeah, much better than "Station to Station".
