Just started American Hostage Garen & Carleton. Bite……………….. “Unfolding from the terrifying drama of Micah Garen’s kidnapping by Iraqi militants is a complete surprise : a moving, sympathetic portrait of Iraq & its people………… American Hostage explores some of the darkest terrain in the human condition & emerges with hope still beating.”Not bad at all so far. hrmmm. i saw that a library sale and i think i bought it for a dollar. now where'd i put that pile of books? in any case, maybe i'll check it out sooner than later. Sounds like a major "nod fest." As in snore. Fictions my thing. Am about to embark upon another Koontz novel. Even though he's written some majorily suck ass shit lately I still read him hoping (although not holding my breath) that he will surprise me with another outstanding work of fiction.

Are you referring to Sisyphus's post or my Koontz post R'Kid? If it's the Koontz post did you read his latest?

'The rule of Metaphor' by Ricoeur. Cause I'm fun like that. Nothing like a French linguist being translated from French to English to enjoy a nice, simplistic, uninfuriating read. Afternoon read by the water, drink in hand. More like beating my flipping head into the wall while having existentialist concerns.

Not yet, Sisyphus, but I will get there soon. I'm reading about 3 books at the same time right now, but when I get there, I'll let you know. I also will be mailing out some CDs for you and Thorn pretty soon as well. I have Thorn's address and will do that ASAP.

How was that Philip Jose Farmer book, Thorn? That Farmer book is comprised of 3 seperate vaguely interlinked (thematically it appears) stories. I read the first one . . . which was excellent. Then I was starting up on the 2nd, when Sisy lent me DAve Egger's A.H.W.O.S.G. So I put down the Farmer temporarily, and read that. I just finished the Eggers book yesterday. It's a fun read, peters out a tad towards the end I thought, but still a worthwhile read nonetheless. Funny, down to earth, warm, human, and realistic. Recommended, esp for 20-somethings & 30-somethings. So now I'm hopping back into that Farmer book to finish it, so I can pick up Melville's tremendous epic, of which I possess an old hardcover featuring the original Rockwell Kent engravings. For now, I also brought in this book to read (which I just bought at a yard sale for .25 cents):
