Had a pork relapse. Enjoyed a footlong coney deal at Sonic recently. Gosh it was delicious w/ sonic size tots w/chili and cheese/onions/ and jalapenos.
Never fear...diet coke to drink!

Does anyone have a recipe for some sort of cajun chicken dish? I have to make a dish for a dinner party & the host wants everything to be cajun. Why? I don't know, but she may refuse me any dessert if I don't comply with her demands. So, yeah. Something chicken, cajun, fairly straightforward. Many thanks in advance & a free beer to whoever comes up with the goods

Steak w/roasted corn on Saturday ... leftover chile rellanos and enchiladas on Sunday. August and September are the best time for chiles here -- fresh out of the fields, roasted to perfection. Mmmmmmmmmm ...

goin' out for indian tonight to celebrate the bday w/ a boy. woot! (i really need to stop saying "woot!" - i don't know where that idiotic expression came from, or how it worked its way into my parlance, but it's gotta go....)
i'm a little nervous about eating indian here. indian in the bay area is famously amazing, because of the massive indian immigrant population there. indian is possibly my favorite cuisine on earth, and i was seriously spoiled there. (the other contender for favorite is thai - i can never quite decide between the two) so i'm a little nervous about memphis indian, it's gonna be awfully hard to live up to SF indian, but i'm told this is the best indian restaurant around here.... fingers crossed!!
Cheers, M

I am pleased to report that the Indian food was absolutely delicious! Yay Memphis Indian food! Now, most Indian food tastes good, even the mediocre stuff, just because it's so frickin' good. But you notice the unusually good restaurants because they go above and beyond the standard fare (not that chicken tikka masala is ever objectionable, but still - it's par for the course everywhere) and it's obvious that there's some creativity to the dishes, even the standard dishes. Well this place had a nice big menu, so there were indeed some restaurant specialties beyond your run-of-the-mill tikka masala, and I had a painfully yummy chicken coconut korma. Korma may be run-of-the-mill, but coconut korma - I've never had that before and shit it was good.
OK, yeah, the place didn't compare to the best SF indian places but it will definitely pass muster. Having a good indian place is an essential part of any city, I'm pleased memphis lives up!!!
Unfortunately immediately afterwards we went to a bar down the street and they were blasting the doors. I thought of ken holzman. and i grimaced in his honor.
Cheers, M
