This is a board taken from the genius of Andrew Earles. Andrew Earles is writer/critic that writes for such great magazines as Magnet and Paste. He has a great style and I love his column of this same name, talking shit on alot of what people think are great bands and trends. So......talk some shit.

1. Clap Your Hands And Say Yeah- Just avoid this band at all costs. I don't care what pitchforkmedia tells you or your friends that work at the local version of High Fidelity, this band sucks.
2. Bloc Party are complete shit. Being really young and hanging out with the right people with the right influences does not make you good. Mediocre guitar riffs lifted from every American 90s indie rock band with a postpunk/dancepunk rythem section does not make you good. Using your refrences like you're using a resume to be a cool kid in the cool club may work on the critics, but we should have a higher standard.
I'll bring more as the time comes. On a sad note, Bob Moog, inventor of the moog synthesizer has brain cancer and will not survive. So tonight, put on your Devo or Thomas Dolby records, or Stereolab and say a silent thank you.

Bob Moog lives not far from here. I know a few people who know him. We just had a three day moog fest that I couldn't go to but I've heard it was nothing short of amazing. We also just had a guy through that was in Hawkwind, he played four theramins and vocal loops. It was bitchin'. Moog would have been proud.

Uh......yeah, it's the same style of guitar riffs. All it is is your basic Pavement riff (which I know they can be very derivative of the Fall, but to me they came into their own with "Wowee Zowee" and "Crooked Rain") with a dance beat. Very SIMPLE. It's also just my opinion and I'm sure that alot of people like it, but as far as them "both being good albums", NO. NO. NO. And yes, I am well aware that taste is an art of the subjective. I personally think that they both lack any real distinct oompf for me. Doesn't hit me.

Luke, Yes, Dr. Dre!!!!! I like his production, but his own stuff is weak weak weak.

Oh yeah, his only good album is Chronic, and Snoop has been equally weak since Doggystyle...but yeah, that was where a very young ekul actually first discovered the moog synthesizer...
As for Bloc Party, they're GOOD, but not by any means great. That's just my opinion, but I really don't think they'll ever amount to an Interpol or a Franz Ferdinand...
Here's two bands that I just don't understand how people still listen to...
DEATH CAB FOR CUTIE and THE SHINS. Boring emo shit that's fun to listen to for about one spin in the car, and then it's off to the bottom of the stack. Two bands that completely lack any sort of adventure, innovation, or intricacy, but people still buy more than one of their albums. I wouldn't mind a song or two in the backdrop if I was a coffeehouse kinda guy, but man, I don't understand how anyone can actually be "into" these boring ass bands.
Oh, and that Death Cab guy, man, those lyrics are wretched.

Now Deathcab I can agree with you on. I do like the Postal Service though.....but sometimes I must admit that I wish they had a different singer.
The Shins I really really like, though they haven't been as good as they were when they were a hungry little quartet out of Albaquerque called Flake Music. I have been into that band for quite a while and I have to admit that I am very fond of them. As far as innovation, no.....but that's not everyone's forte.

Yeah, tons of bands aren't innovative, I was just trying to make a list of redeeming qualities and saying that they had none of them...

Kaiser Chiefs=quite possibly this decades lamest import since Jesus Jones or EMF. Tegan and Sara=Wow.......behold the new Indigo girls, only with better tattoos. SUCK.
Here's a shocker for you: The Pixies. Now, I love their music, but that "new" song I heard for the Shrek 2 soundtrack and the cover of the Warren Zevon song are really shit. Seriously, I think all renunions suck, I don't care how much I love you. Whoooo......somebody give that Weezer fan with the irony hat and the fannypack the boot.

Anyone who says "dancepunk" and "Bloc Party" in the same sentence clearly has zero idea what they are talking about. It's like a dead give away. Why not just say you don't care for the polkacore breakbeats and the harmonica harmonies, it applies just the same.
My brother once said he hated Bloc Party because they sounded like the Faint (whom he hates too). I laughed in his face. This is the same brother who's band is opening for Juliana Hatfield tomorrow. Who knew.

Yeah, that reminds me of a conversation with my friend Donny, this 30-something wash-up who's seen better times, about all that...
Me: So what do you think about the Pixies having a new album? Him: Should've hung it up. Me: What about Dinosaur, Jr.? Him: Should've hung it up.

Clearly zero idea, huh? The guys are cliff notes for the "new wave revival". Idiots in tight t-shirts with tight little minds that say absolutely nothing. Too bad about your brother for not liking the Faint (who kick most of these revivalists' asses) and the fact that he's going to have to endure an entire set of Juliana Hatfield.

Yeah when I hear Helicopter or Positive Tension, my first thought is "damn these guys have listened to too much Duran Duran"
