The Faint are pretty untouchable now, with Wet From Birth. They've been refining away since Media. Every riff on Wet from Birth was class-A. So good, in fact, they might as well now just combust and disband, as i can't see a better album coming from them.

Calling Bloc Party a bunch of "revivalists" is pretty dumb, imo. They're probably the best of this UK indie wave going on now. Franz Ferdinand should be seen for what they are: the vanguard of the indie-dance scene, made by a bunch of 30 year olds coming from failed prog/jazz/rock bands, who at last tapped into their inner-Sting and decided to re-form the Police for the 00's. I like their songs, but Franz is nothing significant. Bloc Party at least have some semblance of inner fire, and that tight angular sound that people love to attribute to New Order or Joy Division or Gang of Four is not the full story.... it's also the generic sound attributable to any earnest young dudes/dudettes who want to sound passionate but also rocking. Nervous energy/ twitchy musical tics..... yeah, those kinds of things characterize the indie early 80s scene, but is not exclusive to that era. It's more endemic to a certain kind of geeky indie subculture. Which i love not to mention that the Feelies are just about the (overlooked) direct DNA ancestors of the nervous tic school of the indie UK rawk.

Give me Art Brut who slay those idiot boys in Bloc Party. Sorry, I think it's pretty stupid to like them, revivalist or not.

Wolf Parade. The music is pretty decent, but man, I have to call out these guys and The Arcade Fire for being good musically but for having TERRIBLE vocals. In my opinion, though I love the Arcade Fire, let the girl sing everything. Her husband is a caterwaul gone from worse to horrific. Seriously, what is up with all of these bands that just can't sing!

See I like the off kilter vocals these guys have. Same with Clap Your Hands Say Yeah. I don't think many of them can pretend to not have spent some time with David Byrne playing in the headphones, but similarly he was always a little warbly, but unique and in key.

Modest Mouse and Built to Spill I can do. David Byrne I can do on any day of the week, the guys voice has always been amazing, but some of these vocalists need to do SOMETHING! You can hide behind that bullshit of "art" all you want. At the end of the day, give me the vocalist from The Walkmen. Now THERE is someone who can sing in my opinion. I personally blame the Pixies. You know, every one would listen to Frank Black and think, man, I can do THAT. No.
Clap Your Hands And Say Yeah. Everyone I know has lost their mind when it comes to this band. I don't get it. Another band that I have tried to get into but find them really boring.

I just wish the dude from The Walkmen WOULD fucking sing more. I love "The Rat", but everything else off of that particular album just puts me right to sleep.
Clap Your Hands and Say Yeah are super lame. I can't understand how anyone can really be into this band. Revivalism at its absolute WORST, and this is coming from a Killers fan. The circus thing has been done to death, and so have Talking Heads vocals. They're almost decent when they lose the wacky schtick and go more straight-forward "indie" with their sound ("Heavy Metal"), but most of the time they just sound like a bunch of dorks trying to woo guys who buy girl's blue jeans because they "fit better."

Yeah, the best part about this board is when you don't really criticize the band, you just take shots at hipsters.

whoop whoop, i'm all about taking shots at the hipsters,
but the Clap Your Hands cd is fine. Snappy songwriting, with tighter riffs than the Killers.
