I've belatedly "discovered" Lagwagon, The Descendents, Pulley, Pennywise, Craigs Brother, Slick Shoes, Rise Against and Strung Out. Anybody else love this guitar, skateboard, punk? Who's your favorite? Lagwagon is my favorite band of the 1990's and I never heard of them until 2003!!!!

Propagandhi are very respected, but I don't own anything of theirs. I understand one of their founding members is now in Weakerthans?? I'll investigate both.

I have Out Come The Wolves (Rancid) on Mary's recommendation and I like it but it didn't sink in the way Strung Out, Rise Against and Lagwagon have.
Most listened to cd recently - Pink Razors by Chixdiggit. I highly recommend it if you like simple, catchy, Ramones like, accessible punk.

Chixdiggit are actually playing The Halifax Pop Explosion next month so I'm hoping to see them. They're a lot of fun.
Propagandhi are absolutely well respected. I've only heard chunks of their catalogue, but the plan is to catch up sooner or later.
The Weakerthans are less punk, even though they're on Epitaph now, but they're one of the 5 best bands in Canada right now, and one of my 5 overall favorite bands right now as well.

The Accused --- Their album "Martha Splatterhead's Maddest Stories Ever Told" came out in 1991 --- & remains to this day a splendid example of definitive hardcore/thrashpunk, or "splatterpunk" as they loved to refer to themselves, and if listened to today, still retains all the freshness & insanity that made them so loveable in the first place. If you haven't heard the Accused & you like punk music, I highly recommend looking into this often overlooked band. Except no one that looks into them overlooks em any longer. Their first few albums remain the best examples of their unique punk outlook: Return Of Martha Splatterhead (1986); More Fun Than An Open Casket Funeral (1987); Grinning Like An Undertaker (1990); and Straight Razor (1991); and Martha Splatterhead's Maddest Stories Ever Told (1991). I wouldn't dream of stopping you from going further into their catalogue, only to warn you that after '92 or so, the Accused began turning towards a more "metal" sound, and less of a "punk" one. So for serious straight-up early 90s punk music, you simply can't go wrong with The Accused. NAUSEA formed in 1987 out of NYC and became legendary predecessors of the grindcore scene; only their music to this day retains a cutting edge PUNK ethic and anti-establishment, politically charged fury that none of the grindcore bands ever achieved. Amy Nausea's gutteral, poison-spitting vocals remain legendary to this day, having influenced the likes of such postpunk sirens as KAREN CRISIS and the like. If you can get your hands on their debut album "EXTINCTION", you will find a motherlode of rude, crude, but somehow evolved neo-progressive garage punk the likes you could only have dreamed of in your wildest unconscious expectations. This is the cover of that raw, seminal punk recording (released in '87 I think) A much easier to find version of most of these songs can be found on "The Punk Terrorist Anthology, Vol I", released just last year. The songs have been remastered beautifully and scream out of your speakers with a renewed vengeance that should place NAUSEA where they belong: at the top of the heap of true underground classic punk bands. *Long Live Nausea*

Skvoris - Which Propagandhi is the best starter? I've heard of Less Talk, More Rock.....and Today's Empire......and How To Clean
Riley - I absolutely love Pink Razors (Chixdiggit). I've been spinning it 3 to 4 times a day for 2 weeks. I ordered Born On the First Of July because i like Pink Razors so much, and because that IS ACTUALLY my birthday!!!
Doesn't anybody worship Lagwagon the way I do? New cd out Oct. 31 !!!!
