Nah, they just sound like another bunch of boring old guys to me.
Funny ! As I seem to recall the guys were... well... young when they recorded most of their catalog ...

Hey now...I still wear all three Weezer shirts I've had since the eighth grade, when they were my favorite band. Eleven years ago, that was.
But man, really can't get into that new one. It's just so...awful to my ears.
And Phil...they sound old to me...

Have always had a hard time getting into Weezer...even in their earlkest of days... I've concluded that some bands, no matter how honest, sincere, or aclaimed they are just don't suit certain tastes...
My case in point would be Weezer here. They just never did much for my ears.

The Ramones? How can you not like the Ramones? I mean, I can see how a person could not LOVE the Ramones, but not even liking their best stuff? How can you not love Blitzkrieg Bop, Sheena is a Punk Rocker, Do You Wanna Dance, or all those other fantastic 2:00 songs from their heyday?

Frank Zappa Weezer Prince Styx Smash Mouth Sister Hazel The Eagles many, many more I'm sure Zappa -- from what I've heard, he just doesn't connect with me either. Weezer -- still with you on this one, JAC. I love Buddy Holly, but I've never heard anything else by the band I've liked. Prince -- I used to love him (through Under the Cherry Moon), now I just respect the hell out of him. Styx, Smash Mouth, Sister Hazel, Eagles -- this is called just having taste. That Sister Hazel song that got played to death back in the late nineties really stank.

Guys - For those of you who cannot connect with Weezer but feel you're missing out on something, I have an exercise that might help. Listen to ; O Girlfriend or Island In The Sun off Green album Take Control or Slob off Maldroit Perfect Situation or The Damage In Your Heart off Make Believe
Listen to any of those songs 3 times. It might be just the thing that hooks you. The Green album hooked me. Since then, I consider all of their cds essential. Some genious stuff IMO. Good luck.
Now can anybody help me with Wilco?

Careful Scottsy, I was afraid if I admitted that Wilco did nothing for me, that I'd be banished from the MB.

Weezer just plain out and out sucks. Horrible music. Modest Mouse, while I love them, I can understand why people think they're just irritating garbage. Issac Brock could definitely win for the being nothing more than a very mentally challenged Frank Black clone. Zappa I love but I can see why people wouldn't get the joke and think he's just meandering. Prince, I have to say just makes me want to shake my booty, but he's had a spotty career and apparently is a huge ass to be around. Styx goes without saying as being one of the most awful bands I've ever had to hear.
Man, I can't figure out how you can't like The Stooges though. That is some infectious stuff.
