Rocky--I cannot do it! I know I want to like it but I CANT! I heard 30 seconds of the last track of their latest album and I was just like-NO! NO! NO! I will try again but Im telling you, when I hear that man's voice, its looking at a photo a EVH circa 2006! I can't take it!
ke I said, I will try again. Saturday Morning I will listen to it ALL. If i go insane and the pancakes get burned, the CD will take the blame and end up in the CD POUND.
THIS is a music lover who knows exactly what it is he likes!
LMFAO! Glen goddamned RULZ!

The Pipettes. Not feeling it whatsoever, not even when I try and sneak a tune in on a Raveonettes/Cardigans mix.

(1) Aerosmith (2) As a genre, heavy metal (3) Beasty Boys (= bratty voices) (4) Rush, Kansas, Styx, REO Speedwagon, etc. ad nauseum (5) Franz Fernindad (6) Arctic Monkeys (I did buy it, have listened to it 4 times, and beginning to think they are highly highly over-rated) (7) Tom Waits (that voice just doesn't do it for me) (8) No Doubt...couple of songs are OK, but that squeaky pre-adolescent voice drives me cuckoo!!) (9) Offspring---found them eternally annoyng from day one

I haven't listened to any Tom Waits in ... god, months for any individual song ... probably over a year for a full LP.
I just lost interest in him a few years back, and it's never returned. Can't really say why. Still love "Downtown Train" and some others, though. Maybe it's just the fact that Rain Dogs, Bone Machine, and Mule Variations pretty much take care of my Tom Waits needs.

Can't disagree more about the Arctic Monkeys, though. To my ears, these guys are the real thing. Tons of fun, even if obviously lacking the weight of the Clash (or even of the second Oasis album, though the AM debut is easily the equal (if not better) of Definitely Maybe).

Tom Waits....an acquired taste (or at least an ear) for his scratchy vocals. Had a hard time with my first exposure but am glad it led me to "Nighthawks At The Diner"...a somewhat live recording of seemingly drunken rambing recordings resulting in a great listen.

I can certainly understand how one could not like Tom Waits but man would you be missing out on some great stuff.

bowiglou does not like AEROSMITH! Man, ANY Aerosmith? Tom Waits? No RUSH? I can understand...like that matters, Im just wondering why! Tom Waits may sound like his voice is faked throughout his entire career but usually the lyrics are good....
Toploader is pretty foul.
Bread sucks (but "Everything I Own" is a good song--I think if they had cooler album covers it would be ok--Im just kidding almost)
Barry Manilow had a number one album with SONGS OF THE FIFTIES. He looked like a scary corpse propped up on the cover. I would hide that shit from all that I loved. Theres evil there man--I know it! Pure evil!
Ocean Colour Scene would make this list if it werent for their first couple of albums.....
