I think that you should pick up Jesu's "Silver", Thorn. You might also dig on the band "Ocean" which is the marriage of Sunn 0)))) and Mono. Pretty good stuff.

dude. .. yeah mogwai rocked our proverbial world to the roots. see live shows.
Jesu's "Silver" ~ ~ ~ > will keep an eye out for it... When you say "the marriage of Sunn 0)))) and Mono", do you mean it is literally a collaboration between mono and another band? Or just *sounds like*. . .?
Sweet man ... . yeah I am so pumped for the pelican/mono show ! June 6 baby. Yah!

Just sounds like. Imagine the heavyness and drone of Neurosis and Sunn O))) mixed with the sheer beauty of Mono and early My Bloody Valentine. It's a really cool sound.

I wanted to write that Thorn is awesome and that I wanted to see our board back on the top of the list for the music forums.
Via la post-rock!

Post-Rock is usually instrumental based melodic rock ala Mono, Mogwai, or Godspeed! You Black Emporer.
I'm sure if you google it, you'll get some interesting returns.

I'm playing my first show with my "post rock" project and I am nervous as hell. I don't think it's going to go very well as it's just me with my keyboards, laptop and guitar. We will have to see. The record sounds great that I just finished. The only problem is that in order to recreate it, I'm going to have to hire like 15 dudes to recreate it live. Ugh.
We should start a post-rock super group, Thorn.

Good luck w/that . . . maybe a shot of yaeger'll calm ya down for the show The only problem is that in order to recreate it, I'm going to have to hire like 15 dudes to recreate it live. Ugh. We should start a post-rock super group, Thorn. That is a good idea. My friend & I here have collaborated on some "post -country" sessions (if you can believe that). Well we were jammin, right? We had my guitar (a sweet blue Hohner acoustic/electric), a harmonica (double-reed), and a drum (small drum-circle type), and we kept switchin off. It was a total post -rock style of playing we naturally conjured, only w/a distinct "country" -tinge, so we decided it was "post -country". We haven't done anything w/it yet, but are considering the possibilities.

You guys need banjos with tons of delay and laptops for some weird rythems with a fiddle player. You guys would be the post country post bluegrass group that all of the kids will love. Actually Papa M did some stuff with a banjo that was really cool.

That could be awhile . . . but (if and) when it happens, sure thing.
It would probably be a 2-man group, w/out loops or effects or extra tracks; all live & improvised, 4 hands, twenty fingers . . .
