On the other hand, I'm going to be forced to listen to two dozen new RHCP songs for months on end, so I may invest in some earplugs. I'm not sure which is worse - the tuneless white-funk nonsense they used to spew out, or the sickening MOR, lets-be-U2-for-a-day bollocks they've assailed the masses with of late. What? JLLM loves By The Way - he was always playing it when we met. Poor Guns n Roses fans (if there are any left) - the only way that Chinese Democracy is ever going to get released is if either someone manages to steal the tapes and leak them all over the Internet - or Axl dies and his estate releases it in a posthumous box-set. I think he's trying to outdo Brian Wilson's 25 year Smile delay - except Brian had a genius that was worth waiting for and Axl is a washed up has been who peaked with his debut album.

I have a prediction that in 2006 Scott Weiland will coke out again, go on a huge binge, and prior to getting pulled over for speeding, nail Axl Rose in the cross walk outside the studio where he's been contemplating the recording of Chinese Democracy. All his bones will be in tact and he will live, but his vocal chords will have to be removed and world peace will finally be achieved as a result.

Does that mean STP will be getting back together? I sure hope so.

Isn't the rest of STP working with the singer from Filter? What's the latest on that?

Isn't the rest of STP working with the singer from Filter? What's the latest on that? Really? I hadn't heard that. I sure hope that doesn't suck. Last I heard, the DeLeos were producing for Alien Ant Farm, but that was a long time ago, so it's probably already out (not that I would be checking it out one way or another).

Thanks for the link. This is brand new to me. Army of Anyone is one of the worst band names I've ever heard. And no Eric Kretz? I'd rather they brought back Talk Show.

I'd rather have not known they produced Alien Ant Farm

The Filter guy has some great pipes, and it'll be nice hearing the DeLeos again. Doubt it'll be a "best of" contender, but it has potential.
Army of Anyone does sound nearly as bad as Audioslave (or Alien Ant Farm), though. Reminds me of the horrible new U.S. Army marketing machine, Bruce Campbell, and, of course, Bjork.

I much prefer new RHCP to the old shit...that party funk crap got really old pretty quick.

I also like newer REM and U2 better then the older stuff...except Around The Sun and How To Dismantle A Bomb were both lazy and they sucked.

Oh man. I have no clue how you can like new U2 over the old stuff! That's like liking new Metallica more than old Metallica.
Pissin has this to say to all you RHCP bashers:

Pissin is a wise man.
Old or new RHCP - I like it all. And I'd get my nipples out for Anthony to sign any time.

I really dug the last RHCP record and really, I think the new double record is going to be pretty good. I could totally see them doing something like BSSM all over again with this. I think they still have it in them. They have definitely not aged terrible like some of their other contemporaries.
I personally love old REM way more than anything they've done new. Their new records are not terrible by any means, but "Murmur", "Document" "Green" are just amazing records. I think the last record by them that I really really enjoyed was probably "Automatic for the People". Not to say that everything after "Monster" is bad or anything, they just didn't quite hit me in the same heart spot as their early records.
Now saying you like new U2 over old U2 is just crazy talk and that's coming from a guy who HATES those yobs more than most of my lifetime enemies.

Oh man. I have no clue how you can like new U2 over the old stuff! That's like liking new Metallica more than old Metallica. This clearly excludes Pop and Zooropa....Ok honestly I just like The Joshua Tree, Achtung Baby and All That You Can't Leave Behind. I like the singles for the most part but those are the only albums where the album tracks are any good.
