Yes March Madness is upon us yet again So why not put a CURRENT Rock Final 4 together
4 Regions just like the NCAA brackets 1-16 SEEDS
-European -United States -Canada -Veterans Still Kicking
3 of the 4 regions rep. Bands who's 1st album came out in 1998 and after The 4th is established bands before 1998 who are still playing and making albums
-No Solo Artists(ex.Trent-NIN) -Fill out your brackets the same as NCAA points will be determined by number of votes to see who advances in head to head match ups.
ex not one of the matchups
2- U2 15- Arcade Fire
VOTE who you prefer/thinks the better band etc
then the winner meets the winner of another and so on
till a winner is crowned
I've finished the seedings I just need help with brackets for the format to build if not I'll just post the match-ups and you can then vote

I don't know (or care about) enough bands from 1998 and later ... Sorry !! Yea, not to sound mean or anything, but I couldn't give a rats ass about most modern bands. Most modern bands I listen to these days are all local anyway, and no one here would know them. Having said that one of the best bands I've heard in a long time, is Gist. They're a local DC band and better than most indie bands in this town. IMPO, they are on par w/ many of the new wave 'almost mainstream / still kinda indie' alt rock bands...In DC they don't have a huge audience, but most of their fans tend to be people from other bands. That shows a lot of respect, but doesn't equal success... Back to the subject, there are like maybe 5 bands that have been out since 1998 that I somewhat like. Now if we could do a rock field of 64 and include some of the biggies, I'd be down.

Porcupine Tree is the only "modern" band who got me hooked up so far ...
We'll see about Arcade Fire in a few years ... !!

Hear the sound of musak Drifting in the aisles Elevator prozac Stretching on for miles
The music of the future Will not entertain It's only meant to repress And neutralise your brain
Soul gets squeezed out Edges get blunt Demographic Gives what you want
Now the sound of music Comes in silver pills Engineered to suit you Building cheaper thrills
The music of rebellion Makes you wanna rage But it's made by millionaires Who are nearly twice your age
One of the wonders of the world is going down It's going down I know It's one of the blunders of the world that no-one cares No-one cares enough...

I like some of those lyrics Thorny...
"The music of the future Will not entertain It's only meant to repress And neutralise your brain"
and...
"The music of rebellion Makes you wanna rage But it's made by millionaires Who are nearly twice your age"
The latter set is applicable to rap as well. Guys like 50 Cent who glorify being shot, and living a thug life are millionares living in mansions; most of his listeners are not, yet carry that same thug mentality.

I'm game but I've never done any of the NCAA brackets so I probably won't be any help until that part's done...I'll give it a shot though. How many bands in each catagory?

It's from one of Porcupine Tree's most accessible albums, "In Absentia" . . . if you have yet to give it a listen, I would suggest stopping at nothing to do so. As Phil mentioned, PT is one of the brightest stars rising up over the current musical horizon . . .

You are mean, negative and would rather have a tournament where THE BEATLES would win yet again in another voting contest, LOL ;D I predict the final 4 would be 1.The Beatles overall winner 2.The Clash 3.Rolling Stones 4.Velvet Underground/Doors/Pink Floyd/Led Zeppelin (One of these I'm guessing)
