Silent Alarm is the best album of '05, imo.
But I really recommend another listen to Muse, mantis. Three superb 4.5 star albums under their belts already, and while I'll allow that Showbiz owed a huge and obvious debt to Radiohead - not that I think that's necessarily a bad thing - the next 2 albums actually came from outer space.

Seriously, I've been trying to think of a substantially or obviously better album than Silent Alarm in recent years, and I can't single one out.

I went with Sigor Ros since on the new record they went from the sounds of whale mating to spiritual amazingness.

Yeah, I'm not as big on Silent Alarm as a lot of people, but I can't even fathom that thing being considered "best of the decade" material.
Muse, though, all their hyped up to be.

Just last year, Z and BSS were better than Silent Alarm. Ken you know I'm with you on BSS from '05, but there are the odd days when quite honestly Z and Silent Alarm are as good. |
